Mokokchung, June 5 (MExN): In a move aimed at strengthening efforts toward a drug-free society, the District Administration of Mokokchung has approved the District Action Plan for the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA) Campaign 2026.
The district-level initiative aligns with the nationwide campaign of the Union Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment to address substance abuse and promote preventive measures at the grassroots level.
According to the action plan, the district will adopt a four-pronged strategy focusing on curbing the supply of illicit drugs, reducing demand through assessment and intervention measures, expanding outreach and awareness programmes, and strengthening monitoring and documentation mechanisms.
The supply-curbing component seeks to disrupt illegal drug trafficking networks, while demand-reduction efforts will focus on evaluating patterns of substance dependence and implementing measures to lower addiction rates. Outreach and awareness programmes will target vulnerable sections of the population through education and community engagement initiatives.
The plan also emphasizes monitoring and documentation to track progress, ensure accountability, and assess the effectiveness of interventions.
District officers and Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) have been assigned specific responsibilities under the action plan. Working in coordination, they will undertake time-bound activities aimed at addressing substance abuse and promoting a healthier, drug-free environment across Mokokchung district.
