Mokokchung: IMDH main building yet to be completed

AWUMT asks Health Minister to cancel work order

MOKOKCHUNG, SEPTEMBER 3 (MExN): The All Ward Union Mokokchung Town (AWUMT) has expressed dismay at the non completion of the main building construction at Dr Imkongliba Memorial District Hospital (IMDH) despite expiry of the stipulated time.

In a letter to the Nagaland Health and Family Welfare Minister, the AWUMT informed that the people of Mokokchung and neighbouring districts are facing hardships due to the delay in completion of the main building at IMDH, Mokokchung.

Contract work for upgradation of the main hospital building at IMDH was awarded to a firm called KC Infra Projects Pvt Ltd for a tender amount of Rs.12,92,64,000 on January 15, 2018 under NHM 2017-18. As per the terms and conditions of the work order, the stipulated time for completion of the said contract was 36 months from the date of issue of the work order.

The AWUMT however stated that even after the lapse of the stipulated time of 36 months for completion of the contract works “no progress whatsoever has been made in construction of the main hospital building by the contractors.”

It informed that the AWUMT has undertaken ground verification of the site and found that except for the demolition of the old building, no construction work has been started at all for the new building. The AWUMT termed this as “totally unacceptable to the people of Mokokchung and is in outright contravention of the terms and conditions of the work order.”

“The proficiency and competency of the contractors is highly questionable and their negligence is a deliberate offence against the health and wellbeing of the people of Mokokchung and the neighbouring districts,” it stated. The AWUMT further expressed surprise that no competent authority has restrained the contractors to abide by the terms and conditions of the work order to complete the contract works on time.

The AWUMT therefore urged the Health Minister to cancel the work order awarded to KC Infra Projects Pvt Ltd and float a new tender for the said project immediately.
