Marep Forest Park, an initiative of the Officers and Staffs of the Mokokchung Forest Division was inaugurated by Dharmendra Prakash, IFS, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests and Head of Forest Forces, Nagaland on June 8. The park is located in Marepkong ward, Mokokchung.
Other present were Rongsenlemla, IFS, Conservator of Forests (NTC), Dr Sentitula, IFS, DFO, Mokokchung, Range Officer of Mokokchung, Changtongya, Tuli, Longtho, Changchang Beat, Longchem and all executive staff, ministerial staff and NFMP staffs.
Dr Sentitula, IFS, DFO Mokokchung stated that the Marep Forest Park, aims to provide opportunities to teach about environment and the importance of preserving natural ecosystems, a beautiful urban forest park whose landscape can bring people enjoyment, becoming an important place for residents' morning exercise, leisure, tourism, and other activities. The Forest Service hopes that by creating this park, they will be able to demonstrate sound environmental practices and foster environmental stewardship in the areas of conservation and preservation.
The Principal Chief Conservator of Forest and Head of Forests Force, Dharmendra Prakash IFS congratulated the efforts of the officers and staff of the division for working tirelessly towards conservation efforts. He has interacted with all the ranks and files of the division reviewing the progress and concerns of the staffs for a better welfare of the people.
He has also interacted with the Wood based Industry Units/Mill owners under Tuli Industrial zone, Milak Industrial Zone, Longtho Industrial zone and Longnak Industrial zone.
Rongsenlemla, IFS CF (NTC) highlighted the progress of all the Forest Divisions under Northern territorial Circle (Mokokchung, Tuensang, Kiphire, Longleng, Mon and Zunheboto) and encouraged the officers and staffs to continue working for the benefit of the people and to strive towards ‘Living Sustainably in Harmony with Nature’ restoring and safeguarding Mother Earth.
