Mokokchung, December 11 (MExN): The Mokokchung Chamber of Commerce & Industry (MCCI), in a public advisory, has strictly prohibited selling calendars and tickets of any kind, including concert tickets, raffle or lottery tickets, buffet coupons, tambola slips and similar items, to traders and business owners in the market.

“Anyone pressuring the business community to buy such items will be treated as engaging in illegal activity equivalent to extortion,” the MCCI asserted in the advisory issued on December 11.

It further stated that forceful collection of donations of any kind in Mokokchung is “strictly forbidden” and that any individual or group, including cadres and functionaries of Naga Political Groups, found “extorting or acting against the rights and welfare of the business community will face strict action.”

The MCCI also informed that transporting, storing, selling or bursting unregulated firecrackers without prior permission from the competent authority is prohibited. Members of the business community involved in such activities will be dealt with as per rules, it said.

It also reminded stall owners, participants and organisers of the upcoming Winter Night Carnival in Mokokchung town to respect the interests of established business owners in the surrounding area. All are expected to maintain cleanliness and follow hygienic practices, it added.

The Chamber further cautioned business owners to refrain from unethical business practices. It also requested business owners to ensure that parking spaces in front of their establishments remain accessible to customers and are not occupied by their own vehicles, as such obstructions often inconvenience customers.

The MCCI extended festive greetings to all and urged everyone to celebrate responsibly.
