MON, MARCH 3 (DIPR): The Deputy Commissioner of Mon has informed all DBs, GBs and village council chairmen of Mon district to remain vigilant regarding Under Trial Prisoners (UTPs) who escaped Mon Sub Jail on the night of February 26. The DC has also directed the village authorities to inform their respective administrative officers and police stations regarding any clues/tip offs, which may lead to the arrest of the absconding UPTs. The prisoners are identified as Manpha Konyak (19), s/o Phongnon Konyak of Shangnyu village under EAC Shangnyu; Yeangkup Konyak (26), s/o Phongnon Konyak of Shangnyu village under EAC Shangnyu; Tahlem Konyak (30), s/o Wangtoa Konyak of Longlem village under ADC Tizit; Taoshing Konyak (27), s/o Chinge Konyak of Wanching village under SDO (C) Wakching and Versing Tangkhul (17), s/o Ramyo Tangkhul of Yeeamson village, Ukhrul District, Manipur. The DC further cautioned that any village found sheltering/harboring the escapees or concealing the whereabouts of any one of them will be penalized as per the provision of law. It will be the responsibility of the village council to ensure that their “good citizens” do not harbor these anti social elements of society, the DC added.
