Mon, September 1 (MExN): The Mon District Health Society on August 31 reviewed the present scenario of health units in the district to strategize ways to improve them.

The agendas discussed at the meeting included low rate of COVID-19 testing, vaccination, absenteeism among staff, negligence of other essential services, and data reporting, the District Media officer for Mon NHM stated in a press release on Wednesday.

According to the release, Deputy Chief Medical Officer Dr Rongsennungla requested the Medical Officers to have an interactive session on the present scenario of their health units and discuss strategies to improve the units.

DSO Dr Lolekhol Pucho laid down the issue of low COVID-19 testing rate in the district wherein the house deliberated on the challenges faced at the grassroots level and decided to activate IEC personnel to enforce steps in tackling stigma and fear among the populace. The house also decided that the Mon DHS would request the District Administration for assistance in initiating thorough sensitization programmes in all the blocks.

Meanwhile, DPO Dr Shasinle Tep (RCH&UIP) highlighted the need to emphasize on the second dose of COVID jabs, stating that the number runs low compared to the first dose. She also entrusted the blocks to plan the vaccination sessions in their respective blocks according to their convenience.

The house also discussed on the matter of absenteeism of nurses posted at the Health units and said that while there are some with ‘absolute reasons,’ and difficulties or challenges, the department should try to minimize the problems so that there are no excuses for absenteeism.

The meeting concluded with discussion on the reporting formats and other essential services like Routine Immunization (RI), the release stated.
