Mon District Administration conferred three SKOCH Awards

Mon District Administration has been conferred the SKOCH Awards under three different categories that include COVID-19 response, financial inclusion and skill development.


Mon Deputy Commissioner Thavaseelan K informed that the awards were conferred online by SKOCH group Chairman Sameer Kochar, on June 20. 


The SKOCH Crucible Award for ‘Financially Inclusive Mon’ was conferred in recognition of the district’s focus on opening bank accounts through the Indian post Payment Bank (IBBP) for sections of the district that were previously unbanked. Under the initiative, the district also focused on opening of new bank branches in unbanked blocks in the district.


The SKOCH Order of Merit for District Response to COVID was also conferred to Mon District Administration for its quick and innovative response to contain and prevent the spread of COVID-19 while at the same time, delivering basic services to the people.


The district’s efforts such as the public movement permit system, home delivery of essential goods, water and banking services, food banks, online e-pass for intra district movement, Active case search strategy and contact listing, walk-in-sample kiosks as well as the launch of three innovative apps to assist citizens in COVID response were recognized by the SKOCH  group.


In the skill development category, Mon district received an Honourable Mention Award for its initiative ‘Skill Mon Mission. The mission was started to address high unemployment rates in the district through the Pradhan mantra Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) in coordination with the Department of Skill Development, Employment & Entrepreneurship and registered training partners under Skill-india Mission.


According to a statement from Mon EAC, Chubasanen Ozukum, several mobilization drives and Mega Job Fair was conducted in the district wherein selected trainees were placed in reputed private sector companies across the country and abroad.


The Mon DC meanwhile placed on record his appreciation and gratitude to the entire team of officers in the district administration, officials of the IBBP, the Department of Employment, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship led by Director and Commissioner and Secretary and training partners who have been very supportive in the efforts towards ensuring more employment for the youth of the district.


With regard to the district response to COVID-19, he thanked the district administration, the police, health and family welfare department, NGOs, civil society, churches.


“It’s a complete out and out team effort,” added.
