Mon district prepares for I-Day celebration

Mon, August 5 (DIPR): A meeting on distribution of work for the forth coming Indian Independence Day 2011 at Mon Headquarter was held at the Conference Hall of the Deputy Commissioner, Mon on August 5. The meeting was chaired by the new Deputy Commissioner, Mon Angau I. Thou.
Welcoming the Government Officials, NGOs and the Principals/Head Masters of the various Schools of Mon, she sought the cooperation, support and suggestions of the gathering and added that without which the district administration alone cannot march ahead. To ensure mass participation of the Government employees during the celebration of the Independence Day, she appealed to the HODs of the district to maintain attendance records of their respective staffs and submit to the ADC-I for necessary action.  Emphasizing on green and clean environment of the district, she informed that DC office staffs would be conducting a cleanliness drive on 8th August at 6 a.m. She also said that the district Administration will be engaged with overall activities of the celebration and urged the gathering to tie up with the administrative officers for any assistance. She also asked the gathering to replace the worn-out National Flag with new flags.
The District Statistical Officer, Mon Tongmeth has informed that in order to mark the celebration   his department would issue Birth & Death Certificate free of cost to all children below the age of 5 (Five) during Independence Day celebration. Longyim Tzudir, District Programme Officer, District AIDS Prevention & Control Unit, Mon has also informed that Voluntary Testing and counseling on HIV/AIDS would be held at the venue of the celebration to mark the occasion.  Manlip Advisor & Coordinator, MTC said that Ward wise Cleanliness Drive has been started in the town and the best ward/colony will be awarded.  
The meeting distributed various work assignment to the Government departments according to their activities. Rehearsal for the contingents would start from 9th August and the SP Mon will detail the timing for the rehearsal. A mass social work would also be held on the 12th August at Mon headquarter. All work assignment should be completed on or before the 14th of August. The SP Mon would be the overall in- charge of the security.
