ADDING UP TO the controversies in the recruitment of Mahila Battalions of Nagaland, the Police Headquarters has reportedly asked for re-verification and re-examination of all the 72 female candidates from Mon district in Nagaland for alleged malpractice during recruitment rally. Sources revealed that 72 candidates of the district had been declared qualified and also given appointment orders into the Mahila Battalion of the district after the April 28 recruitment rally.

The candidates though had received their appointment letters reached the Police Headquarters in Kohima to re-verify their documents on Friday, but have declared they will not sit in any form of examinations to be conducted now or later.

“We have all qualified during the recruitment rally and also received appointment orders, but now the PHQ has suddenly called us for re-verification and also asking us to sit in fresh examinations, which we won’t do,” said one of the qualified candidates standing in queue for verification while talking to this correspondent. Some of the candidates also pointed that there have been complaints over the recruitment rallies conducted in other districts and asked as to why complaints should affect only Mon district.

Police sources present during the verification confirmed that all the 72 of them had qualified and their appointment orders already issued, but some of the legislators of the area had complained about malpractices in the process of conducting the recruitment because of which the candidates have been asked to come personally for verification.

The PHQ has proposed to conduct written examination to match the handwriting of the candidates with the earlier answer scripts of the written test conducted during the recruitment rally. Nevertheless, the candidates have declared not to sit in any form of examination while also expressing that no one should be dropped from among the present 72 candidates, adding that if anyone is dropped then no one will join.
