Wokha DDMA issues public advisory amid heavy rain

Continuous heavy rainfall triggered a landslide that damaged the house of Wosumo Enni at Lakhuti Village in Wokha district on Sunday. No casualties or injuries were reported.
According to local sources, the landslide struck the rear portion of the house, causing a section of the wall to collapse as mud, rocks and debris crashed into the structure. The impact severely damaged the interior, with debris filling one of the rooms and cracks appearing on the remaining walls.
Meanwhile, the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Wokha, issued a public advisory urging residents to remain vigilant due to the possibility of flooding, landslides, mudslides and damage to public infrastructure.
The advisory urged people to avoid flood-affected and landslide-prone areas, refrain from unnecessary travel during heavy rainfall, stay away from unstable slopes and retaining walls, and exercise caution while driving. Residents living in vulnerable locations were also advised to move to safer places if necessary.
The DDMA further requested the public to closely monitor official weather updates and immediately report emergencies, including landslides, flooding, damage to houses, road blockages or persons in distress.
It assured that the district administration was closely monitoring the situation and had activated necessary response mechanisms to ensure public safety.
