More condolences pour in for Gen (Retd) Kholi Konyak

Dimapur, December 13 (MExN): The Vice-President of National Socialist Council of Nagalim (Isaac-Muivah) General (Retd) Kholi Chetkoh Konyak passed away on December 12 at a private hospital in New Delhi after a brief illness.

 


CM Neiphiu Rio: Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio while expressing sadness over the demise of the leader described him as “a leader of stature.” “His contributions towards the Naga cause will be remembered for generations to come. His support towards the ongoing peace talks was testimony of his leadership and his belief that Nagas desire to live in peace for a better and brighter future.” In his demise, the Organisation in particular and the Nagas have lost a great leader whose absence will not be easy to fill.

 


Ex MP Wangyuh Konyak: Ex MP Wangyuh Konyak in a message addressed to wife of Kholi conveyed deepest condolences to the bereaved family. “His death has created a vacuum in Naga Political Movement particularly in this critical juncture. However, his deeds and sacrifices will always be remembered in the years to come, the message further read.

 


NSCN (R): NSCN (R) through its MIP expressed “He is one of the few selfless Naga leader who can be called a 'true patriot' who gave everything he had for the Naga National cause and served the Nation for more than 60 years, till his last breath. The MIP further conveyed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members and loved ones during their time of grief.

 


NSCN (K): “From a humble private to the rank of Commander-in-Chief, he serves the Naga Army with incredible spirit and unbending devotion. His faithful service and contributions towards the Naga National struggle will be cherished for the generations to come,” read a condolence note from NSCN (K).

 


BJP Nagaland: Bharatiya Janata Party Nagaland State stated “his untimely demise has left irreparable vacuum not only to the NSCN-GPRN but also to the Naga people.” May the Almighty God provide strength and courage to the bereaved family at this hour of grief.

 


NNC Parent Body: NNC Parent Body in a condolence message said “His sincere dedication and service rendered towards the cause of the Naga people shall always remain alive in the history of Nagas.” NNC Parent Body and the Nagas as a whole share in solidarity the bereavement and console the family members with prayer and ever peace of God.

 


CL John: CL John, MLA 45 Tehok A/C, NLA expressed, “his untiring voluntary services to the Nagas of the whole world will be heartily remembered by one and all.” While I share my deepest sorrow and sympathy with the bereaved family in this hour of grief, it is our fervent prayer to our Almighty God to grant peace and solace to the departed soul, he added.

 


TNL: Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL) has expressed condolences to his family on the demise of the leader. "The whole Naga nation is deeply saddened to learn of his untimely passing," TNL said. “Nagas have lost their great son whose glorious image and sacrifices will go down in history,” they added.

 


KUD: Konyak Union Dimapur (KUD) said “the legacy you left behind will always stand as an example to all of us to persist in our persuit of Naga freedom through peaceful means. By your sudden demise, the Konyak have lots a great leader.” Our sincere prayers are with the family.”

 


Indigenous Orgs: “The great strides taken by him in bringing us closer to peace in the region and to the Naga people shall never be forgotten. His contributions and leadership in the struggle of Naga people echo in the struggles and hearts of all indigenous people across Asia,” various Indigenous organizations in Kolkata gathered to discuss Indigenous Peoples Struggles and Movements in India stated in a press note.

 


NSF: “The Nagas have lost a great son of the soil and Naga, Naga Students Federation expressed. The Federation mourns with his family at this time of sorrow and pray that, our almighty God grant our departed leader rest in eternal peace.

 


NPP: National People’s Party (NPP) Nagaland State Unit in a condolence message expressed “He was man of integrity in his service towards the cause of Naga Nationalism and more crucially acknowledged the spirit of reconciliation. His demise is a great loss to the Nagas and the cause of Naga Nationalism but his legacy will surely continue to strengthen and encourage the aspirations of the Nagas.”

 


NSYF: Naga Students and Youth Federation (NSYF) (Naga Nation in Myanmar) in a condolence note stated that “the sacrifices and the long struggle for self-determination to the Naga Nation will be cherished and remembered for all eternity in Nagalim and realize the aspirations of the Nagas to live together as one people and one Nation.

 


Mao Hoho Nagaland: Mao Hoho Nagaland has extended condolences to the bereaved family members of Gen. Retd. Kholi Konyak. “His demise is a great loss to the Nagas in general inhabiting across various boundaries. We pray that the Almighty grant eternal rest to his soul and give peace and solace to all his near and dear ones and the NSCM (IM) family during this time of pain and grief,” the note added.

 


Dimasa GBs: The Dimasa GBs of Nagaland mourned the sudden demise of Gen. Kholi Konyak and said “It is great loss for the Naga nation. We can only express grief and sorrow to the near and dear ones of the departed soul. May God give them strength to overcome the loss.”

 


Ao Senden: The Ao Senden conveyed condolence to the bereaved family and prayed that Almighty God will grant solace at this darkest hour of grief. “His active participation for Naga reconciliation and unity will be ever remembered,” they added.
