More grieves and condemn suspected murder of Nagaland police

Dimapur, September 17 (MExN): Resentment and condemnation in reaction to the suspected murder of Inspector Neiphretuo Metsieo continued to pour cutting across the social spectrum. On September 17, a day after a man and a woman suspected of complicity in the suspected murder, were arrested by the police, more press notes were received demanding justice to the departed and the bereaved family.

Governor of Nagaland: The Governor of Nagaland, PB Acharya, in his note, expressed shock and grief over the heinous incident. He described the late Metseio as a sincerer police officer who dedicated his life for the security and welfare of the people of the State.  

Extending condolence and prayer that the Almighty grant solace to the bereaved family, he asserted that befitting punishment must be awarded to the perpetrators as per the law. The Governor further lauded the effort of the security forces to arrest one of the two suspects at the Guwahati railway station.  

NSCN (IM): The National Socialist Council of Nagalim (NSCN-IM) has condemned in the strongest term the alleged murder of Neiphretuo Metsie-o and stated that “Such a despicable act of crime deserves the most stringent punishment of the land.”  

Maj. (Retd) Hutovi Chishi, Co-Convener, Steering Committee, NSCN (IM) in a press release has appreciated the swift actions of the State Police in nabbing the two accused involved in the crime. It also requests all to give their full cooperation to the investigating team so that justice is served at the earliest. Appreciating the maturity of Angami Public Organization (APO) in handling the case, Chishi said that the stand of APO in trying to resolve the situation as an isolated case and not that of a communal one is highly laudable.  

Meanwhile, it also appealed to the public to show “positivity and understanding,” and that the crime is attributed only to the two accused, and not to the particular community they belonged to. “The crime is highly unfortunate, but this should not break the peace and brotherhood of the Nagas. It is an appeal to all to restrain from any actions that may lead to communal tensions,” the MIP added.   The NSCN (IM) also offered their condolences to the bereaved family.  

Nagaland Tribes Council: The NTC has stated in a condemnation note that one can be convinced that there was no established relationship between the victim and the murderers, and the magnanimity of the victim to carry the murderers was just a coincidence. “The murderers’ one determined intention was to seize the vehicle of the victim at any given opportunity, and it was evidenced that the moment the third passenger was dropped at Zuketsa Town, the victim was shot dead with small arm at a kilometer away towards Pfutsero,” NTC alleged in the condemnation statement issued through its Media Cell.  

“Such daring, mindless and senseless murder of a fellow Naga by a Naga due to sheer greed for money (vehicle was reportedly disposed of to a buyer) without sense of fear and value of human life is definitely alien to Naga culture,” NTC condemned while sharing grief and agony of the widow and her children.  

Meanwhile, the NTC appreciated the public of Pfutsero range who selflessly involved along with Police in search of the body of the victim. It also commended the effective coordination between the Intelligent and Police forces belonging to Manipur, Assam and Nagaland by which the murderers are now nabbed without taking time. “Any underestimation of the importance of Inter-State coordination will only encourage the crime rate in the region. Whereas, the very recent maneuvers engineered by the law enforcing agencies are found encouraging and satisfying,” the Council added.  

Northern Angami Gazetted Officers’ Krotho: The Northern Angami Gazetted Officers’ Krotho (NAGOK) vehemently condemned the alleged murder and expressed shock and outrage. The NAGOK has urged the law enforcing agencies to leave no stone unturned in bringing the perpetrators to book and award befitting punishment as per the law of the land. “We offer our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and pray that Almighty God may grant solace and comfort at this juncture,” Arch. Lhouvilie Yhor President, NAGOK and Dr. Vikuolie Mezhatsu, General Secretary, NAGOK stated.  

Pochury Hoho: The Pochury Hoho has strongly condemned the crime which has been committed without any hesitation and apprehension against creed and race, “this type of devilish act has no place in our society.” Pochury Hoho President Chulekhu in a condemnation note demanded that the culprits had to be accorded with befitting punishment without interference from any source. While appreciating the law enforcement agencies and the civil societies for the coordination in arresting the culprit, the Hoho expressed deep condolences to the bereaved family members and pray to almighty God for granting peace and solace in this turbulent time.  

Chakhesang Mothers’ Association: The Chakhesang Mothers’ Association (CMA) in a condemnation note jointly appended by CMA President Zaposhelu Venuh and General Secretary Ruyizolu Rhakho, stated that it is shocked to see an involvement a woman in the alleged murder of the police officer. The CMA while expressing its grief and sorrow further demanded that the law enforcing should award stringent punishment to the perpetrators as per the law of the land and added that no bail should be granted. The CMA conveyed its deepest condolences to the bereaved families and prayed that the love of comfort be upon with the bereaved families and the departed soul rest in eternal peace  

Poumai Naga Union: The Poumai Naga Union (PNU) Pfutsero Unit has strongly condemned the murder incident. “As a community, we expressed our agony over this inhuman act. We felt deeply sorry and praying for peace and strength for the bereaved family,” it conveyed in a note issued by Daniel Dichao, President, and Paul Mohmai, Secretary PNU Pfutsero Unit. The PNU further request the concerned authorities to take immediate action at the earliest and bring the culprits to justice.  

Zeme Council Nagaland: The Zeme Council Nagaland has condemned the alleged murder by unscrupulous miscreants between Zuketsa and Zapami under Phek District. The Zeme Council Nagaland has appealed to the concerned authorities to book the culprits at the earliest and award befitting punishment as per the law of the land. “We the Zeme community Nagaland nonetheless extend our deepest condolences to the bereaved family members, near and dear ones of Lt Neiphretuo. May the almighty God gives strength to bear the loss at this hour,” Dr. Tumda Newme, President, Zeme Council Nagaland conveyed in a press note.  

Kuki Students' Organisation Nagaland: The Kuki Students' Organisation Nagaland (KSUN) has condemned the murder incident and expressing shock and anguish over the execution of such barbaric act upon a fellow Naga brother for petty money, The organisation has demand the highest befitting punishment be awarded to the culprits from the concerned authority. The KSON also extended its heartfelt condolence to the bereaved family of the deceased and pray that the Almighty God be with them and comfort them in times of pain and sorrow.  

Rengma Students’ Union: Rengma Students’ Union (RSU) has condemned the murder incident stating that such act should be condemned by all and legal action should be taken at the earliest. “We have lost an officer, a father, a brother and a friend. RSU expressed grief and sorrow over the loss and prayed that God will grand peace and solace to the bereaved family,” RSU President, Kisheto Kent Rengma stated in a press release.  

Dimapur Rengma Students’ Union: The Dimapur Rengma Students’ Union (DRSU) has expressed shock and condemned the alleged murder of Lt. Inspector Neiphretuo Metsieo. In a condemnation note, DRSU president Tenyebinlo Himb said that there was no place in the society for such beastly doers. “Such crime should be condemned by all the sections of the society at all cost,” it stated. The Union also applauded all those involved in arresting the culprits and demands that befitting action should be taken at the earliest. DRSU further extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and prayers for the departed Soul to Rest in Peace.  

Rengma Public Organisation Kohima: The Rengma Public Organization Kohima (RPOK) vehemently condemning the incident stated that the inhuman criminal act of the two accused committing such heartless deeds deserves the highest degree of punishment and condemnation. The RPOK President Khinyi Woch and General Secretary, Kenny Semp in a press release strongly urged the concerned authorities to award a befitting punishment to the apprehended culprits consistent to the crime committed and take action in an exemplary manner for the living people. The RPOK also prayed that the Almighty God grants solace to the family of the bereaved at this hour of grief.  

VCC Union Pfutsero: The VCC Union Pfutsero sub-division has deeply conveyed anguish over the murder of Lt. Niephretou Metsie-o and strongly condemned the alleged murder. VCC Union Pfutsero Division Chairman Shekhozo Thuluo and Secretary Menyelhi Mero in a press release has asked the law enforcing agencies to award highest possible punishment to prime accused as per the law of the land. The union also conveyed deepest condolence to the bereaved families and prayed that the departed soul rest in peace.  

Kharasom Village: The Kharasom village, Ukhrul has expressed grief and sorrow to the bereaved family of late Inspector Neiphretuo Metsieo. “We pray that his soul rest in peace and for God's grace upon the family,” stated in a condolence note issued by ZN Shimray, Headman Kharasom Village. The village has also condemned the culprits and appealed the Government of Nagaland to award befitting punishment and deliver justice at the earliest possible. “Through this column we also like to extend our apologies, condolences, prayers, and solidarity to late Inspector Neiphretuo Metsieo's family, Chiechama village, Angami brothers and sisters and all Nagas in general,” the note further added.  

Zapami Village: The Zapami village community has expressed that it is extremely shocked and in pain at the alleged murder of Lt. Neiphretuo Metsieo under its jurisdiction. “The inhumane act had not only traumatized the people of the area but also defiled the land of Zapami Village. Such mindless murderers have no place in a civilized society,” stated a condemnation note issued by Krowelhi Kenye, Head GB Zapami Village and Zewekha Wetsah, chairman, Zapami Village.  

The village community has demanded the law enforcing authorities to award stringent punishment according to the law of the land to the predators. Reaffirming that the people of the area are peace loving, the village reassure travelers and visitors of its commitment to safety and security. The village community deeply shared the grief of the bereaved family and prayed that our almighty God will grant comfort and healing to the loved ones.  

Lasumi Village Council: The Lasumi Village Council condemning the alleged murder has demanded that the arrested culprits be brought to Nagaland immediately and appealed the concerned authorities to book and bring them to justice at the earliest. Lasumi Village Council Chairman, Lonyichu Pradia in a press note stated that the Council also warned the public not to take advantage and disturb the peaceful atmosphere of the area. The Village Council has conveyed its deepest condolence to the bereaved family members and prayed that Almighty God bring comfort and also prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace.
