Dimapur, August 7 (MExN): The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has sanctioned a Short Term Maintenance Contract (STMC) for National Highway-202, covering a 244-km stretch across Tuensang, Shamator, Kiphire and Meluri districts, Nagaland Deputy Chief Minister and National Highways in-charge TR Zeliang said on August 5.
The contract period will extend for one year from the date of issuance of the respective Work Orders, Zeliang said in a social media post, adding that the open tendering process has been completed and Work Orders will be issued at the earliest.
The maintenance work has been divided into nine packages. The stretch from Chare (Km 39) to Km 90 has been awarded to A Phongshi Phom in two packages worth Rs 3.46 crore and Rs 4.28 crore respectively.
The award for the Km 90-120 stretch, sanctioned at Rs 4.59 crore, is pending between Innovative Construction and M/s Chittaranjan Saha & Others, Zeliang said.
The Km 120-150 package, worth Rs 4.36 crore, has gone to M/s Hi-Tech & Co, while the Km 150-177 stretch, sanctioned at Rs 4.21 crore, has been awarded to M/s G.B.S. Tech Enterprises.
M/s Zeliezhu & Sons has been awarded four packages covering Km 177 to Km 283, with sanctioned amounts of Rs 3.90 crore, Rs 4.13 crore, Rs 4.13 crore and Rs 4.52 crore respectively, according to the minister.
Noting that the region has been severely affected by incessant rains, Zeliang urged all contractors to mobilise immediately upon receipt of their Work Orders and commence work without delay.
In addition, four other highway packages have been awarded, the minister said. These include the NH-329A stretch from Km 38.63 to Km 72.27, sanctioned at Rs 4.60 crore, awarded to M/s G.B.S. Tech Enterprises; the NH-02 stretch from Km 220 to Km 240 under Mokokchung Division, sanctioned at Rs 3.61 crore, awarded to Punia Construction Company; and two packages on NH-702A under Phek Division — Km 128 to Km 173 and Km 176 to Km 221 — sanctioned at Rs 4.60 crore and Rs 4.59 crore respectively, both awarded to M/s Zeliezhu & Sons.
“Every contractor must strictly adhere to the specifications and standards laid down in the contract agreement,” Zeliang asserted.
He appealed to the public to extend cooperation to the executing agencies for smooth implementation, while urging citizens and community leaders to remain vigilant to ensure the works are executed to high standards of quality and accountability.
“The Government remains committed to improving road infrastructure across the State and will continue to pursue all necessary measures to ensure better connectivity and safer roads for our people,” the Minister added.
