Union Minister of State for Jal Shakti and Tribal Affairs, Bishweswar Tudu and others during the visit to Seithekema- A village under Chümoukedima district for inspection of works carried out under Jal Jeevan Mission.

Dimapur, December 6 (MExN): The Union Minister of State for Jal Shakti and Tribal Affairs, Bishweswar Tudu visited Seithekema- A village under Chümoukedima district and inspected the works carried out under Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) during his maiden 2-day visit to the State from December 5-6.
As per a press release, during the interaction with the villagers, he noted that after 75 years of independence, villages have been made accessible to tap connections at their household level under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The MoS was informed that under JJM, Seithekema-A village was taken up for a retrofitting scheme and around 93 households have been provided with functional household tap connection after it was completed in 2021, it said.
He also enquired from the villagers if there was any difference after implementation of JJM and they responded that water now is regular and adequate, it added.
As per the release, Tudu also expressed happiness that villagers are operating the distribution system and collecting Rs 30 per month as user charge and further acknowledged Jacob Zhimomi, Minister of PHED Nagaland for taking up village under JJM ahead of others.
Earlier, Seithekema-A villagers led by its chairman Kelengulie Khro received the MoS and the accompanying officials from PHED including officers from PHED Rural Division, Dimapur and EAC Seithekema. Other members of the village council and WATSAN committee were also present during the reception.
