Motorcycle lifters arrested

Dimapur, July 20 (MExN): Dimapur Police have arrested three people for vehicle lifting in the span of one week.  

One Aghato, of Zutovi village, Dimapur, was arrested on July 13 in connection to a theft of a Motorcycle from Zutovi village on July 12, a press release from the PRO, Dimapur Police informed.  

In the second arrest, the Dimapur Police arrested one Viloto Sumi, a resident of Supply Colony, Dimapur, on July 15. The accused was involved in stealing a Scooty from Hotel Pink City, Dimapur on July 14. The stolen scooty was also seized from his possession.  

In another incident, one Vikugha Awomi, a resident of Notun Bosti, Dimapur was arrested from Railway Colony, Dimapur on July 17 for stealing and being in possession of a Motorcycle reported stolen on June 4.    

Two bikes recovered in Kohima

Kohima Police also apprehended a vehicle lifter following a hot chase and subsequently recovered two stolen bikes.  

According to a press release from the Kohima Police PRO, one bike with no number plate approached Chiephobozou police check gate and despite signaling for it to stop, the rider sped away. After a hot chase, it was intercepted near Botsa and the bike was seized. The Motorbike B/R No. NL10/9190 (Discover) belonging to Department of Agriculture, Nagaland was stolen while parked on the road between Peducha-Chiedima road on July 13. The rider, identified as one Atoka Sukhalu, 23 years, presently residing at 4th Mile, Dimapur was apprehended, the release informed.  

Further investigation revealed that he was involved in bike theft cases earlier and based on his revelation, an unregistered red colour TVS Motorbike bearing engine No. AF1GA1285505 and Chassis No. MD625NF14AIG51291, which was reported stolen from 3rd Mile, Dimapur was recovered.  

In this regard, the PRO has asked the rightful owner to claim the vehicle by producing relevant documents in original from Chiephobozou PS (Contact No. 8575045506).
