MP Jamir raises concern over pending Dimapur–Tizit railway project

Kohima, AUGUST 5 (MExN): Nagaland Lok Sabha MP and Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) President, S Supongmeren Jamir, has raised concerns in Parliament over the long-pending Dimapur to Tizit new railway line project.

The MP submitted the issue under Rule 377 during the Parliament session on August 5, flagging the lack of progress on the railway line which was approved by the Ministry of Railways (North East Region) in 2013–14.

The proposed line was to cover a stretch of 257 kilometres across Nagaland with an estimated cost of Rs 4,274 crore, he pointed out.

More than a decade since it was taken up, the MP highlighted that the project has shown “zero” financial progress, urging urged the Union Minister of Railways to take immediate action and ensure early implementation of the much-delayed infrastructure project.

A press release from the NPCC Communications Department also informed that MP Jamir on Tuesday also joined a protest led by INDIA bloc MPs in Delhi against the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral roll in Bihar expressing solidarity with the people.
