MP Supongmeren seeks restoration of Air India Express services to Dimapur

Dimapur, August 7 (MExN): Nagaland Lok Sabha MP S Supongmeren Jamir has urged Union Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu to urgently restore Air India Express services connecting Bengaluru–Kolkata–Guwahati–Dimapur–Imphal.

In a letter to the Union Minister, Jamir stated that the Delhi–Kolkata–Guwahati–Dimapur Air India Express service has remained suspended for nearly a year, causing "immense inconvenience" to travellers from Assam, Nagaland and Manipur.

He further pointed out that Air India Express discontinued its Bengaluru–Kolkata–Guwahati–Dimapur service from August 1, 2026, further reducing air connectivity to the Northeast.

According to Jamir, the disruption has placed an additional burden on students, patients, business travellers, government officials and the general public who depend on air services for travel between the region and other parts of the country.

The MP urged the Ministry of Civil Aviation to take immediate steps to reintroduce the suspended Air India Express routes or facilitate operations by another airline on the same sector connecting Bengaluru, Kolkata, Guwahati, Dimapur and Imphal.

He said restoring the services would "significantly ease travel" for people across the three Northeastern states and strengthen regional air connectivity.

Appealing to the minister on humanitarian grounds, Jamir requested that the matter be accorded "top priority" and that steps be taken for the earliest possible restoration of the affected services in the larger public interest.
