The multi-storied car parking constructing under Kohima Smart City project located in the main town area, is being opened for public on trial basis.
Managed by the Tsütuonuomia Youth Organisation (TYO), a member overseeing the operation said this has been opened for public on December 1 on a trial basis for the Hornbill Festival.
When asked, he said "although it's a new concept, people are getting used to it, and the car owners are really happy about this facility."
While this has served as a convenient parking for car owners, he observed that there are many who still tries to park khushi-khushi (haphazardly) even in the parking lot without being conscious of other cars.
He remarked that apart from this habit which will take some time to overcome, everything has been going on smoothly.
He informed that a fee of Rs. 20/- is collected for the first hour and addition of Rs 10 for every hour.
On being asked if there has been any complain from car owners about the parking fee, he replied in negative adding that “car owners now feel secure.”
