DIMAPUR, MAY 28 (MExN): The Muslim Council Dimapur (MCD) has noted with dismay the current development within the Muslim community of Dimapur where it was learnt that a new organization in the name of Dimapur Muslim Public Forum was formed and the Muslim Council Dimapur was allegedly dissolved. The meeting was held in pursuance of the Naga Council Dimapur letter dt 20/5/2012 as stated in the local media on 28th May.
“It may be mentioned that the Muslim Council Dimapur is the only registered NGO among the Muslim community of Dimapur and dissolution of the MCD by any other newly formed Committee or by any other NGO has no legal validity. Leveling unnecessary allegations or accusations against the MCD and declaring it as dissolved by any other group is undemocratic to which the MCD totally disagree”, stated a press note issued by A Jalil, Joint Secretary (Publicity).
The press note also stated that the declaration made by the so-called DMPF to excommunicate A Hannan Tapadar, President and A Rahman, Working President without any rhymes or reasons is regrettable and not acceptable by the Muslim community of Dimapur. It stated that the so-called DMPF has no authority to take such a drastic step as both the leaders of MCD has never misused their social position to defame the Muslim community and are respected social workers of the Muslim Community in particular and Dimapur as a whole.
“It is also pertinent to mention that during the long period of their service to the community neither A H Tapadar nor Ahidur Rahman has any allegations, complains or any kind of misuse of their social status and there is no adverse report was reported against them at any stage and hence the question of excommunication from the community does not arise at all and the community is right behind them”.
It went on to state that in pursuance of the February 23rd 2012 joint resolution adopted by the Naga Council Dimapur and Muslim Council Dimapur in presence of Muslim community elders at the office of the Naga Council Dimapur for the change of nomenclature of the Muslim Council Dimapur which also appeared in a section of the press on 24th Feb 2012, it was decided to change the name to “Muslim Committee Dimapur (MCD)”
