My God is great

My friend and I were travelling in a bus. There was an old man sitting not very far from me. He was sitting by the window. We started our journey. Along the way I found him talking to himself. Then he popped his head out of the window and shouted, “Halleluja”, with excitement and leaned back on his seat. He kept on repeating. My friend and I found this funny. We giggled everytime he did that. We thought something had got into him that was making him act comic and strange. I did not understand his action until one day.
A just born baby is carried and nested in mother’s arms. The mother stood in awe and wonders at the little hairs on the head and the tiny arms and feet. The mother smiled with immense joy as the baby’s eye catches her eyes. Maybe nobody can be happier than the mother. All the others could do is lost their mind in the admiration of the little baby and share the mother’s happiness. After so many months the little baby is now starting his life, and no wonder God’s hand was busy all that time. “For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.” (Psalms 139:13). If we are to witness every step of his creation as he knit the cells together to form tissues we will know full well that we are fearfully and wonderfully made. (Psalms 139:14). When the baby first open his eyes the light touches the thin line of tears of his eye, passes the cornea, lens, and reaches retina. This light is converted into electro-chemical signals and is carried along the optic nerve to the brain. The brain interpret the signals into image. Now the baby sees the first picture of a wide smile of the mother with tears rolling on the cheeks. The little organ, the eye, now starts its first function to see the world ahead of him. Little does he know that the little eye that is fluttering to capture the happening around him is much more complex then the best camera man has ever built. This little eye is God’s little masterpiece. The baby is God’s masterpiece. You and I are God’s masterpiece.
“So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.” (Genesis 1:27). Being made in His likeness we share some attributes with God though not all. We can see, think, judge, and made choice. So we are more than the other creation.”So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.” (Matthew 10:31). We are created for God’s pleasure and also to worship Him.
“Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.”(Rev 4:11)
“...and the people which shall be created shall praise the LORD.” (Psa 102:18).
Life is much more than performing duties to survive and to cope up with the society. There is much to see, learn, appreciate, and bring it all with praises to the Lord. Not for our name’s sake but God’s sake, for it is His desire.
“Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, the people he chose for his inheritance.” (Psalms 33:12).
We know that the nation or family that has the Lord is blessed. And this shows who God is. If only we know who God is and what He can do, even a little faith that we can have, we will not have another day to worry. Rather we would begin the day with thanksgiving. Did God not showed Himself in the Bible and the history not proved that He is God again and again?
So, who is God?
God is the begining and the end and beside Him there is no other god.” (Isaiah 44:6).
God is great in love. (Ephesians 2:4).
God is willing to forgive. (Isaiah 1:18).(1 John 1:9).
Jesus told a parable of a prodigal son. When the prodigal son decided to return back home he expected little or no love from his father because he ran away from home. But he was greeted with much love and care. Not only he was forgiven but was welcome home again. We see the same situation even now. Most of us do not expect to be loved and cared in God’s arm again, because we have sinned much. And sadly, most of us even do not know how to return back, for we have lost the desire to love God. If only we could get a glimpse of God’s love blazing from the mountain of hope we would go running to His arms. Because He is ready to forgive(no sin is too big for God not to forgive) and welcome back to His home. If we could run into God’s presence seeking Him with humbleness we will always have a home.
God is mighty. (Zephaniah 3:17)
God is our strength. (Isaiah 12:2)
God is our protector.(Psalm 121:2-3)
God takes care of us (2 Cor 9:8)
There are lots of things to worry about in this world. A little here and a little there has made us to take a ride along with the worries of the world. We will worry less if we put our faith, even as small as a mastard seed, in the Lord. And replaced our fear with thanksgiving for He is well able to take care of the situation. For what can man do to you when you have God on your side. Only if we could come before God with praises we would have His peace that passes all understanding.
God is rich in wisdom and understanding. (Job 12:13).
God knows everything about you.(Psalm 139)
A tourist that has a map will enjoy the city more than the one who has no map. He knows where to go and what to expect. So is man who turns to God for counsel. If our needs are making a decision, or seeking advice or wisdom, then we have God who is full of wisdom and understanding. Wisdom cries up and down but it is for those who seek it. If only we could run to God hungry for wisdom we would be filled.
God is a jealous God. (Exodus 20:5-6).
God knows everything, nothing is hidden from Him. (Hebrews 4:13).
God will judge every action. (Ecclesiastes 12:14).
No love is without jealous when the heart that sees its lover turning its love to another. Man’s love is understood on this. So it is the same with God’s love at much deeper level. If God’s love that was proven at the cost of His son is projected then how much He will not want us to turn away to another. None of our actions or motives are hidden from God. It is open and every action will be taken into account. If we could run to His presence with reverence we would see how see how loving yet uncompromising God He is.
Knowing who God is we can always go before Him with humbleness, praise, hunger and reverence. This is worship. And we are created to worship God.
“The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.” (Psalm 19:1)
The mighty God left His signiture in all His creation. This is the reason the old man in the bus sitting by my side was shouting, “Halleluja”. He saw the handiwork of God as he popped his head out of the window. If we could join the other creation in declaring God’s glory we will never want to be far from our creator. For all creation are His (Psalm 24:1). The tiny eye fluttering is a show off of God’s neatly knitted masterpiece. His richness is seen in painting of the flower petals. His creativity is seen in the galaxy and in the atoms. His might is seen when He stretched the sky. His strength is seen in the mountains. His gentleness is seen in the eye of a baby.
“When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that you are  mindful of him, the son of man that you care for him?” (Psalms 8:3-4).
But His love is seen when He sent His only begotten Son, Jesus. And this is the greatest gift men can ever have. No other gift or wonders come close to this for this gift is His own. For if men open his eyes and catches the eyes of the Father then he would see the love beaming with fulfilment in the Father’s eyes. So if you would run to His arms today your life will always glow with God’s presence.
“Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom.” (Isaiah 40:28).
