My Only Cry, Decide Well For Us

We Nagas are at the crossed road once again. The gravity of the situation at the impact that is to follow by both the decision and the indecision of our leaders on our future overwhelms me. I am just a simple youth and I am no leader. Today, we youths are totally confused due to the prolonged political unrest that has had many indesirous consequences on us. We have reached a stage, where many have become sick of problems and have even become incapable of analysing our own situation. We have reached a stage, where some of our youths are not sure, whether they are Indians or Nagas. We have reached a stage, where many upright intellectuals have shut their mouth in fear and a confused youth have been left in darkness and utter confusion. Well, I am young but I can grasp this;

Firstly, all of us are certain that we are at the crucial times and our leaders are in a period to decide a destiny that needs enormous wisdom and strength.

Secondly, a question arises out of this certainty, why not all our leaders put their ego, personal interest and differences behind for once, for we are at risk, if I am permitted to say, to lose everything and put their heads together with every Naga intellectual to take this ‘last good shot’ at the ‘last good chance’ we have?

I am no historian either, but reading the papers past few years of the aspects of Naga political history, tells me that GOI has succeeded in detaching our youth from our history. So if it is going to be the ‘last good shot’ we have at the target before matters come to worse, why not all our leaders and intellectuals come together and forge something good and lasting for us and the future generations?

There are so many who would dance and leap for joy to see Nagas fail once again for they can continue to take advantage of our plight. Then why are our leaders playing different tunes in total disharmony? Can our leaders play a single tune with their own instruments in harmony for all Nagas to follow before it is too late? Or are they going to keep singing different tunes, a disharmonious, confusing song, to the already confused crowd? I guess, only our real enemy is enjoying such a tune. But alas, I can only lament for I am only a man in the crowd and I am no leader. My only cry, decides well for us. I am a youth, there are thousands like me waiting in confusing, at the destiny we are unable to picture. May God bless our leaders with wisdom, strength, foresight and unity.
