Myanmar Nagas urge for concerted efforts

Dimapur, March 10 (MExN): Naga students’ organizations in Myanmar today appealed for concerted efforts in taking up common issues rather than ‘forming numbers of NGOs.’ The Eastern Naga Students’ Association (ENSA) and Naga Student Yangon (NSY) issued a joint press release today explaining the ‘little changes’ in the government system of Myanmar.

“The situation in the country Myanmar is under change and there are lots more to be made. The central govt and the ‘Naga self-administered zone’ in particular is concentrating to allow fewer NGOs to be functioned as legal organizations for stronger administration which can provide common platform to work in unified commend at this initial juncture,” the ENSA and NSY stated.

The ENSA and NSY has urged all Nagas in Myanmar, India and abroad to join hands with the two organizations and work together “instead of forming numbers of NGOs which may lead to further, discussion/differences and misinformation to the global community.” Working in own capacity or interest without the consent of the people and authorization from the home government “and NSAZ” will “prove invalid within no time,” the two stated.

The organization have appealed to the Media, NGOs from Myanmar and India and elsewhere especially the Burma Centre Delhi to be aware of the situation, position and the sensitivity of ‘Naga history’ since “we feel some winds of misinformation around regarding the Nagas living in Myanmar and our stand point.”
