Dimapur, November 6 (MExN): The NAAC Peer Team visited the Kohima Science College, Jotsoma from November 3 to 5, 2011. The three-member Peer Team was headed by Prof. B.L. Chaudhary, (Former Vice-Chancellor Mohanlal Sukhadia University), Professor, Dept of Botany, University College of Science, Udaipur, Rajasthan. Prof D. Chandra Sekhara Reddy, Professor and Head, Dept of Fishery Science and Aquaculture & Bio-technology, Sri Venkateshwara University, Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh, was the Member Co-ordinator, and Dr N.V. Kalyankar, Principal, Yeshwant Mahavidyalaya, Nanded, Maharashtra, was the other member. This was informed in a press note issued by Dr. Vizovol Mekro, Coordinator, Steering Committee.
During their three-day visit the Peer Team visited all the departments, classrooms, laboratories, research laboratories, NCC, NSS offices, hostels, staff quarters, EDUSAT Hub, and other facilities of the college. Besides meeting the teachers, staff and students separately they also held interactions with the Alumni Association, Parent Teacher Association, state government represented by the Commissioner & Secretary, Higher Education, and Joint Director, Higher Education. The Peer Team visit was mainly to validate the Self Study Report that was submitted to the NAAC office, Bangalore three months ago.
The exit meeting was held in the college Conference Hall on November 5. The report of the Peer Team was formally presented to Dr. Vituo Belho, Principal, Kohima Science College in the presence of the teaching faculty, staff, and students, Alumni, Parents and Joint Director, Dept of Higher Education.
