NABARD has extended Business Development Assistance and Mobile Vehicle Mart support to Farmer Producers Organisations of Tuensang and Noklak districts.

National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) has extended Business Development Assistance and Mobile Vehicle Mart support to Farmer Producers Organisations (FPOs) of Tuensang and Noklak districts.
Tiakala Ao, General Manager/Officer Incharge, NABARD, Nagaland Regional Office, Dimapur handed over the sanction letters of Business Development Assistance support to Sangmei FPO and Chenya FPO of Tuensang and Ajei Ai Watthat FPO of Noklak district during her visit to Tuensang on November 25 last.
All the three FPOs are being promoted through Eleutheros Christian Society (ECS), Tuensang with the support of the NABARD.
The matching equity grant assistance support is provided only to those FPOs supported by NABARD under its PODF-ID fund. Further, under NABARD’s OFDD -financial assistance for marketing initiative, a mobile vehicle mart was sanctioned for Sangmei FPO, Tuensang. Ajai-Ai-Watthat FPO of Noklak district also received a mobile vehicle last year.
Ajai-Ai-Watthat FPO has 480 shareholders and is operating in Noklak district. The main crops marketing through the FPO are millet, maize, ginger, cardamom and vegetables.
Sangmei FPO operates in Noksen block under Tuensang district with 380 shareholder members covering ninevillages.
The ChenyaAgri and allied FPOwas formed in 2019 by the NABARD supported TDF project with 200 farmers. The main fruit crop is kiwi and secondary crop as cardamom and varied vegetables. The FPO operates in Sangsangnyu block of Tuensang district with 250 shareholders.
Rev Dr Chingmak Kejong, Secretary, ECS shared the genesis of NABARD support to the farmers through the organisation and express its long lasting engagement with NABARD. He encouraged the BoDs to strive and avail the benefits for FPO which is supported through the ministry.
