DIMAPUR, JULY 2 (MExN): Consequent upon the emergency sitting of the Naga Council Executive, senior Councilors and Women Hoho held on 2nd July at 10 AM in the office of Naga Council where members discussed over the Friday July 1 killings at 3rd Mile and Intangki and its ramifications, the meeting has resolved that it was imperative to hold a general public meeting inviting leaders from various organizations and communities in order to further deliberate on the situation and to gather suggestions and proposals to promote sustainable peace, security and tranquility in the commercial district which is writhing under rampant taxation. This was informed in a press note issued by Savi Liegise, President and Ntsemo Ngullie, General Secretary of the Naga Council.
According to the Naga Council, it was decided to convene a general public meeting on July 6 at 10:00 am in the Chakhesang Conference Hall near Chakhesang/Sumi Church, Dimapur. Dimapur-based organizations/unions shall be invited to depute its president & secretaries or authorized representatives to attend the said meeting with suggestions/proposals for further deliberation in the interest of peace and harmony, it stated. The organizations include Dimapur Chamber of Commerce & Industries; Dimapur Municipal Council; Dimapur Naga Women Hoho; FNR; All Tribal Hohos; Dimapur Baptist Pastors’ Fellowship; Leaders of various Non-Naga Communities; Dimapur Sadar GB Union; Dimapur Citizens forum; Naga Entrepreneur Association; Chairmen of various Colonies; Village Councils Chairmen & Secretaries under urban/sub-urban Dimapur; Senior Citizens; All Councilors of Naga Council and concerned public.
It was further informed that the opinion and suggestions of the various organizations shall be compiled to forge a renewed call towards sustainable peace in Dimapur for the benefit of all citizens. The goodwill and cooperation of all organizations/citizens is highly solicited towards this objective, it stated.
