Naga economy still dependent on government salary: Azo

Dimapur, October 25 (MExN): Minister for Health & Family Welfare (H&FW) Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu on Thursday termed Naga economy as a salaried one in the absence of industries and corporate business houses.

Addressing the Chakhesang Gazetted officers in a felicitation programme organized for Director General of Police (DGP) in charge of Home Guards, Prison & Vigilance Commissioner, Besusayo Kezo, IPS, organized by the Chakhesang Hoho Dimapur District (CHDD) at Chakhesang Hoho building, the minister urged the Chakhesang community to cultivate the young generation to do better.

Welcoming Besusayo Kezo, IPS, 1978 Meghalaya cadre, who has been absorb as Nagaland cadre in the capacity of DGP in charge of Home Guards, Prison and Vigilance Commissioner, as a proud moment for the community, Nienu urged the upcoming generation to take the IPS officers life as a role model and toil hard to become an officer. The community still lacks bureaucrats, we need more young officers to make the community proud, he stated.

Also speaking, Chakhesang Public Organization (CPO) president, Sovenyi called upon all members of the community to continue upholding the good qualities passed on by forefathers. The Hoho president also urged the DGP to deliver justice before the Nagas making the best use of his office and bring pride to the community.

Speaking on the occasion, Besusayo kezo, IPS acknowledged the good gesture shown by the Chakhesang community through the initiation of CHDD. He called on the Chakhesangs to continue fostering unity for progress and all round development. Others who spoke on the occasion include MLA, Deo Nukhu, Chakhesang Gazetted Officer’s Association (CGOA) and president Chakhesang cultural Organisation. It may be mentioned here that the act of blessing was done by T Vero, chairman, Chakhesang Colony Council, Dimapur.

Besusayo Kezo, IPS, is a 1978 Meghalaya cadre and has been serving as ADG before been absorb as Nagaland cadre in 2012. The programme was attended by a host of government officers, NGO’s, public leaders and elders of Chakhesang community.
