Naga girl from humble background excels

DIMAPUR, MAY 5 (MExN): With the recently announced results of the HSLC exams, the successful students are now busy with deciding where to study and which stream to take up. One of the students who has excelled by attaining the 7th position in the HSLC exams is Aienla Longchar (daughter of Talinochet Longchar) who hails from Changki Village. Residing in Diphupar, she studied in Christian Mission School which is being run by the St. Joseph Association of Catholic Schools. V.J.Verkey is the Headmaster of the school.

Her Advanced Maths teacher, Rahul Roy candidly said that Aienla was a very hard working and sincere student who possesses great intelligence. He further said that if anything is taught to her once, she easily understands it and doesn’t forget.

Speaking to The Morung Express, Aienla said that the result was definitely more than what she had expected. Coming across as a stable and well grounded individual, inspite of her young age, she said that her aim in future was to take up Civil Engineering. According to her, there is more scope for a job in this profession.

At the same time, she said that she would focus on getting a job outside of Nagaland, in the future, since there is an acute shortage of jobs in Nagaland apart from a plethora of other problems. As of now, she is concentrating on the future by taking up coaching in the Eastern Coaching Centre.

The popular notion being that if one has to excel, one has to study in an expensive school has been proved wrong by Aienla Longchar. She comes from a humble background and has also studied in a school which most people would, according to common standards, look down upon. But she has fought against the odds and come out on top, with all credit to her hard work. She is the eldest of 4 children, all girls. Hopefully, help will come from her village, community and the government in guiding and supporting her in the future.
