Naga Hoho appeal for unity

The Naga people struggle for Political Settlement has come a long way with Blood and Tears. Thousands of Naga noble souls have been sacrificed for the cause of the Naga people. In the process, we have experienced the division amongst the Naga people and adverse consequences in all levels. The worst bloodbath in the history of the Nagas had taken place in our own land due to differences and disunity vis-à-vis fratricidal killings.

In this backdrop, the Naga people having realized the negative effects of disunity, came together and called for peace, unity and reconciliation among the Naga people. Since then, the Naga Hoho has been working for the Unity and Solution to the protracted Indo-Naga political problem since its inception. In line with the past leaders of Naga Hoho, we always harp on the unity and fraternity among the Nagas without borders.

Naga Hoho is not against the formation of any new organizations, Associations, unions so long they work for the welfare and common interest of the Naga people. We are open to any individual or organizations to work cohesively without fear and interference when it comes to the interest of Naga people as a whole and Naga Hoho have stood firm against all forces protecting the legitimate rights of the Naga people for unification of all Naga areas.

Notwithstanding, Naga Hoho have stated time and again in the past that the Indo-Naga political settlement should be based on comprehensive and inclusive of all Naga political groups for which we have acknowledged the keen initiatives of Mr RN Ravi for bringing all other groups within the ambit of political negotiations. We highly appreciate and acknowledge the statement of Eno. N.Kitovi Zhimomi, Hon’ble Ato Kilonser & Convenor of WC, NNPGs on 14th August, 2019 that “ I include Naga Lands, Naga sons and daughters in the present states of Manipur, Assam and Arunachal Pradesh. The solution at hand is not just for the Nagas of Nagaland state alone. There will be clear and lucid political arrangements and governance of our people beyond the artificial boundary. By this, I put to rest all baseless rumors of WC, NNPGs limiting itself to Nagas of Nagaland state”.

Alongside all other Naga civil societies, The Naga Hoho has been closely working for the Peace Process since the signing of the Cease-Fire Agreement in 1997. We have come a long way with many ups and down from within and without for the last 22 (twenty two) years. The signing of the 3rd August 2015 Framework Agreement has given a ray of hope for bringing logical conclusion to the Indo-Naga political Talks. Now, the Peace process  is at its crucial stage. And is developing at a very fast pace, while the final solution is awaited by the Naga people and therefore Nagas cannot afford to miss another bus.

Dear Naga Brethrens, our negotiators both the NSCN/GPRN and the 7 NNPGs Working Group, inspite of all odds and hurdles, have been ceaselessly working to bring it to a logical conclusion. We earnestly, believe that our negotiators will not fail the people and therefore, the Naga people must stand together and strengthen the hands of the Negotiators. The Naga people cannot afford to miss the opportunity that is in our reach today because of our divisions and differences. In order to realize our dreams and hopes, it is our bounden duty to let go our personnel interests, pride and ego and march together in unison and forge a strong united voice.

In this Defining Moment for the Naga people, it is a clarion call to all the political groups, civil societies, church leaders, all sections of the society, young and old to keep aside all differences and unite so that our posterity will not blame the present generation.
