Naga musicians come together for cause of Japan’s quake victims

Kohima | April 1 : Several musicians from Nagaland joined the concert in aid of 2011 Japan Earthquake –Tsunami that took place at the Kohima Local Ground amidst packed audience. A good mix of Nagas—bureaucrats, politicians, farmers, youths and professional musicians lend their time and talent to perform at a solidarity benefit concert for the cause of 2011 Japan Earthquake –Tsunami. A minute’s silence was observed in memory of those who lost their lives during the earthquake-Tsunami which hit Japan on March 11.
Among the many artistes/musicians who performed at the concert included Methaneilie, Alemtemshi Jamir, Cotton Country, Emilo Patton, Sharyn Chang, OFF, Divine Connection, XTC, Dementia, De Band, Ebenezer Band, Chakhesang Church Choir, NBCC Male Choir, children from the Ao Baptist Church, Rengma male voices, Kenie Chale of NSACS brand ambassador 2010, Topeni Nagaland Idol 2009, Menguse-u, Shurhoseilie, Alobo, Dr. Nicky Kire, MLA and many others.
Billed as ‘Nagaland Contributes,’ the Music Task Force under the Department of Youth Resources & Sports, Nagaland coordinated the efforts of the concert in response to common sentiments. One good thing is that all the participating artistes and musicians had not taken any charge/fee as part of its contributions and solidarity towards the victims of the Japan earthquake-Tsunami.
The amount collected from this concert will be sent to Japanese Embassy, New Delhi. MTF source said that donation counter will remain open till April 11 for which one may contribute/donate through Axis bank, Kohima, in favor of “Nagaland Contributes” bearing account number, 911010018109404.
Earlier, introductory note was delivered by Project Director MTF, G. Sema while Victor Pucho, Youth director UBC invoked prayer for the event. The amount collected during the show is yet to be ascertained at the time of filing this report.
