‘Naga society needs to re-acquire virtue of truth’

Dimapur, January 18 (MExN): Culture is a way of life and the young Aphumyemi generation should preserve and value the rich culture which has been passed down from generation to generation.  Parliamentary Secretary for Irrigation & Flood Control, Y Vikheho Swu, said this while gracing the 43rd Sumi Aphuyemi Kiphimi Kuqhakulu (SAKK) cultural regale programme as guest of honour on January 17.

A press release received here stated that the parliamentary secretary lamented that truth has become a scarce commodity in “our society.” He said that was the main cause of all illness and ailments in Naga society, while asserting there was an urgent need for Naga society to re-acquire the virtues of truth and honesty “which was/is the base of our culture.” Stating that the main attribute to success was truth and honesty, he urged the students to be truthful and honest in all they do.

Further, sharing that people of Pughoboto sub-division are fortunate to be sharing boundaries with major tribes like Angamis, Chakhesangs, Lothas and Rengmas, he encouraged the people of the area to continue to maintain cordial and peaceful relation with neighbours.

While stressing on the need for economic self reliance, he said that students today are seeking only salaried jobs when there are ample opportunities for entrepreneurship, particularly in agriculture, animal rearing and service sectors. He urged the students to take up self employment generating programmes such as poultry, piggery and commercial farming in agriculture, horticulture and floriculture. He assured assistance to “genuine” entrepreneurs.
