Nagaland Forest Management Project (NFMP) Phek, Divisional Management Unit held its annual meeting on at the Divisional Forest Office, Phek on March 30. DFO cum DMU Head Velatso Demo, IFS, welcomed the village JFMCs and gave a brief overview of the project and its objectives. He also made a power presentation of the NFMP activities for the Financial Year 2020-2021. Demo urged the village JFMCs to be sincere and hardworking for the project to be a success. The meeting was chaired by Lozuvi Nyuthe, planning and livelihood expert DMU Phek. Altogether, 6 village JFMCs under Meluri and Pfutsero Field Management Unit (FMU) attended the annual meeting.

Namgalong Colony Council, Burma Camp ward no. 05 installed new office bearers along with its frontal organization for a five-year term at Namgalong Rongmei Colony (NRC) Council Hall on March 29. The new team will be led by H Daniel Swu as Chairman and Jenpu Rongmei as Secretary. Women organization will be led by Sanaru Kamei as President and Ronika Miachieo as secretary and the Youth Front will be led by Pantijai Rongmei as President and Namkholong Kamei as secretary. The office bearers were introduced by Chingkhiulung Gonmei, Head GB, NRC and dedicatory prayer was offered by Tenyenlo Thung, Pastor, Cross Wonder Church, Burma Camp.

The National Tobacco Control Programme (NTCP) COTPA flying, squad led by District Nodal Officer, (NTCP) Wokha, Police DBs and District Tobacco Control cell (DTCC) members conducted raid on sale of prohibited tobacco products in an area within a radius of 100 hundred meters of educational institutions under COTPA Section 6 (b) on March 30. During the raid, five defaulters were penalized and prohibited items were seized and the seized products were destroyed the same day in presence of the all the COTPA flying squad members. For effective implementation of COPTA 2003, an enforcement drive on sale of tobacco products within 100 yards of educational institutions was carried out under National Tobacco Control Programme (NTPC) at Mon town on March 26. The team consisting of representatives from District Administration, Excise Department, Police and Konyak Student Union (KSU) was led by District Nodal Officer NTCP Mon, Dr I Simon Sumi and District Consultant NTCP Mon, Nyeamying Konyak.
