A total of 120 offences were registered under the NLTP Act and 135 persons arrested and booked under the relevant sections of the Act.

Dimapur, October 25 (MExN): The Nagaland State Excise Department in its continued effort to enforce the NLTP Act 1989 across the State conducted a series of raids in all the districts over the past few weeks.
A press release issued by H Atokhe Aye, NCS, Commissioner of Excise & Director of Prohibition, Dimapur stated that there were a total of 120 offences registered under the NLTP Act and 135 persons were arrested and booked under the relevant sections of the Act.
A total of 286 cases and 496 bottles of assorted IMFL and beer were seized along with 1104 litres of Country Liquor. An NDPS case of 500 grams of Heroin was also registered in the Court of Law, the Commissioner stated.
As the State Excise Department is the Nodal Department in the implementation of the prohibition law and the Director of Prohibition as the competent authority for cognizance of offences under the NLTP Act 1989, all the enforcement agencies have been requested to co-ordinate with the department for the effective and successful prosecution of cases under the said Act, he added.
