Nagaland: 20 fresh COVID cases, 18 recoveries 

Dimapur, October 5 (MExN): The cumulative caseload of COVID-19 cases in Nagaland rose to 31,342 with 20 new confirmed cases on Tuesday. The new cases were detected among 1,069 samples that were tested in the last 24 hours, returning a daily positivity rate of 1.87 percent.

The new cases were reported from four districts— Kohima (10), Dimapur (8), Wokha (1), and Phek (1), out of which 13 cases were detected through self tests and random tests, 5 through traced contacts, 1 from armed forces/security personnel, and 1 from travellers/returnees, according to the daily bulletin issued by the state Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme.

The official COVID death toll which excludes 15 other deaths that were classified as ‘non COVID deaths (with COVID positivity),’ in the bulletin, remained at 651 as the state reported zero fatalities on Tuesday.

On the other hand, 18 single-day recoveries were also reported in the last 24 hours as 9 patients from Kohima, 5 from Dimapur, 2 from Kiphire, and 2 from Mokokchung, recovered from the disease. With this, the number of recoveries in the state rose to 29,358.

According to the bulletin, there are currently 314 active cases in the state out of which 234 are asymptomatic. A total of 60 cases are mild symptomatic and 5 are moderate on oxygen. Among the cases with severe symptoms, 9 are receiving oxygen support, 2 are admitted in ICUs without ventilator and 4 are said to be in the ICU on ventilator support. 

As on October 5, Dimapur had the highest number of active cases at 177 while Zunheboto was the only district with zero active cases.
