Strongman and Crossfit competition
As part of Hornbill Festival of Nagaland, the Nagaland Strongman and Fitness Association (NSFA) in association with tourism department is organizing 5th edition of Hornbill International Strongman and Crossfit (Men & Women) competition on December 7 at Old NST Kohima (8:00 am) and Kisama ( 2:00 pm). Rs 1.50 lakh has been set for prize money.
Strongman competition will feature truck pulling, deadlift, shoulder press, log lift, log race, farmers walk, tyre flip and Naga stone. Naga Crossfit challenge will feature burpees, clean and jerk, chin up, log lift squats, dumbbell front rise, deadlift and box jump.
Legal Services Stall
The 10-day legal services stall at Hornbill Festival, Heritage Village, Kisama was formally inaugurated by Nagaland State Legal Services Authority (NSLSA) Member Secretary, Victo Sema, NJS with NSLSA project officials and Panel Lawyers from Kohima District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) present on December 1.
At the legal services stall, one can avail various legal services for free. Affidavits will be filed, advices for legal aids and representation, legal literature and booklets, legal counselling and advices among others can be availed.
The panel lawyers will also be available for assistance during the period.
Hortiscape
The Hortiscape at the 23rd Hornbill Festival was inaugurated by Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio at Naga Heritage Village, Kisama on December 1.
The Hortiscape comprises of Floral Galleria, Kaleidoscope Hortus and Naga Organic Pavilion. At the Floral Galleria, the winners and participants of the Hornbill Festival Flower Competition, in categories of ferns & foliage, cacti & succulents, indigenous foliage & flowers, bulbs, tubers &rhizomes, orchids (indigenous), orchids (hybrids), and bonsai were on display, stated a DIPR report.
At the Kaleidoscope Hortus, Hortiscape, to celebrate the rich biodiversity of the State’s indigenous crops such as Burmese Grapes, Pea Egg Plant, Bitter Egg Plant, Pungent Ginger, Sumac, Sichuan Pepper, Black Dammar/Raal, Pork Fat Nut, Sohiong/Black Berry, Ink Nut/Haritaki, Hog Plum, Fan Palm Seed, Wild Fig, Wild Apple, etc. are kept on display.
The flowers, fruits and vegetables will be on display till the end of the festival, and different organic fruits, vegetables and fruit products will also be available for buying. Wheelchairs have also been kept at the Floral Galleria to assists visitors with special needs.
The winning participants under state level fruits, vegetable, spices & exotic and indigenous vegetable and spices exhibition-cum-competition were also declared.
Naga Organic Pavillion
Chief Minister, Nagaland, Neiphiu Rio visited the Naga Organic Pavillion put up by the Agriculture Department at the Hornbill Festival, Kisama on December 1.
Varieties of organic fruits and vegetables are being sold at reasonable prices by the Entrepreneurs Associates, Creating and Opportunities, Aolo Organic Passion Fruits Producer Company Limited, Mokokchung, Wokha, Shillong, Meghalaya Spices and Agro products, and others organic products from Dimapur, Pfutsero, Phek, are available, stated a DIPR report.
The Department is also displaying their products, namely Brown Rice, Cereals, Black and Brown Glutinous Sticky Rice, etc. observing the International Year of Millets 2023.
The CM was accompanied by Advisor, PWD, H. Chuba Chang, Advisor, Technical Education and Election, Medo Yokha, Advisor, Horticulture, Mhathung Yanthan, Advisor, Justice & Law, Dr. Chumben Murry, and others dignitaries.
HIPFEST
Portrait Enterprise with support from DIPR and Tourism Department organised HIPFEST under the theme, ‘Colours of Nagaland’ at WW II area, Kisama on December 1, stated a DIPR report.
Chief General Manager, State Bank of India, Vincent Menachery inaugurated the HIPFEST in the presence of Commissioner & Secretary, IPR, Maria Yanthan, IAS, Additional Director, IPR, DzüvinuoTheünuo and Joint Director, IPR, Asangla Imsong and other officials.
Bamboo Pavilion
Advisor, Industries & Commerce, Labour& Employment, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Imnatiba Jamir inaugurated the Bamboo Pavilion, organized by the Directorate of Industries & Commerce at Naga Heritage Village, Kisama on December 1.
Inaugurating the Bamboo Pavilion, Imnatiba said that the festival is a platform to provide an opportunity to local entrepreneurs to promote and sell their products. Around 110 stalls with handwoven fabrics, decorative pieces, traditional items and others have been set up at the Bamboo Pavilion, a DIPR report stated.
Craftscape
Principal Secretary to CM and Development Commissioner, Nagaland, Amardeep S Bhatia IAS inaugurated the Craftscape - The Naga Craft Portfolio 2022, organised by Tribal Weaves on December 1. Visiting the stall, S Bhatia witnessed the process of crafting and weaving demonstrated by the craftsmen and weavers with weaving devices and hand tools.
Artist Corner
The Artist Corner, organised by the Department of Art & Culture, at the World War II Museum Kisama started on December 1. A total of 27 participants have put up a total of 50 artworks which includes sculptures, oil paintings, modern arts and pencil sketches, and these artworks are being put up for sale, with prices ranging from Rs. 2,000 to Rs. 2,50,000, stated a DIPR report.
The Department informed that registration for the participants were carried out free of cost so as to promote the local artistes.
Aadhar facilities stall
To facilitate Aadhaar enrolment/update facilities for the residents, UIDAI, Regional Office, Guwahati, in coordination with the State Government of Nagaland, has set up a stall at Hornbill Festival 2022, Kisama Heritage Village. Residents can avail the following services: Aadhaar Enrolment; Update of Demographic Information in their Aadhaar - Name, Address, Gender, Date of Birth, Mobile number or Email Id; Update of Biometric data in their Aadhaar – Photo, Fingerprints and Iris Scans; Download & Print Aadhaar; Document Update- Residents who had got their Aadhaar issued 10 years ago, and have never updated after that in these years, such Aadhaar number holders are requested to update the Proof of Identity and Proof of Address documents in their Aadhaar.
