‘Beautiful Books’ Book Fair underway in Kohima from September 15-18

Braving a journey of 12 hours from Dimapur to Kohima that usually takes about 2 hours because of road diversion and multiple landslides, Beautiful Books arrived in Kohima to host a Book Fair from September 15-18 at Red Cross Building, Kohima.
The Christian Book Fair was formally declared open on Monday afternoon by Moa Imsong, Associate Pastor of City Church Kohima with a word of prayer.
Despite the harrowing journey, Daniel Francis, Manager of Beautiful Books, said it was a joy to be be in a Christian place. “We drove the rugged roads, sometimes it was also a frightening experience, but it’s a joy for us to be here”, he said.
Highlighting that Beautiful books is the literature wing of Laymen’s Evangelical Fellowship International, he also disclosed that it started in 1953 with small testimonies and leaflets, that were sold on footpaths.
Over the years, he stated, “we are now spread across the globe like London, Australia , Singapore and other places producing books in 80 languages.”
Stating that their mission is to take the literature of God’s work in places where it’s not available, he also highlighted that Beautiful Books are reasonably priced, while many other books are also imported.
He also stated that, “we are very careful in selecting the books” while furting divulging that they are also self-supporting. “Every rupee we generate goes back into publishing more books and spreading the word through literature”, he further affirmed.
Underscoring that a book can change a person’s life, he stated that through the book fair, they bring many big speakers and exuded belief that it will be a blessing.
He also thanked Rev. Simon Raikhan, Pastor of New Spring Ministry Kohima for coordinating and assisting with the logistics for the ongoing book fair.
Moa Imsong, Associate Pastor of City Church Kohima expressed that, “as believers, we look forward to book fairs like this.” He also stated belief that God would bless the book fair even as people walk in to find books and resources that would enhance their knowledge and life.
Nowadays, he pointed out that, “we have so many resources”, but however, he underscored that, “for us to grow in the Lord and gain wisdom, books are great resources knowing that God gives them.”
The books featured at the Book Fair include English Bibles, Vernacular Bibles, Study books & pastoral helps, Children’s books, Biographies, Marriage & family, Christian growth books, Keychain & gifts, Church supplies, Theology & academics, Study bibles, Wall hangings, Daily devotionals, etc.
In the North East, Beautiful Books has branches in Shillong, Itanagar, Gangtok and Guwahati.
Mention may be made here that Beautiful Books also organised a Book Fair in Dimapur from September 10-13. After Kohima, the team will be travelling to Manipur to Churachandpur (September 20-23), Senapati (September 25-27), Mokokchung (September 30- October 4) and Zunheboto (October 6-9).
