Dimapur, July 24 (MExN): Minister for PHED and Cooperation, Jacob Zhimomi today called on newly appointed Union Minister of Jal Shakti CR Paatil in New Delhi. He highlighted the efforts of the state towards achieving 100% tap water connection for all beneficiaries informing that tap water connection in the state under Jal Jeevan Mission has reached 91.3%.
He underscored that the Jal Jeevan Mission projects in Nagaland has made meaningful impact on people's lives across the state nothing the continued efforts to achieve 100% ahead of the flagship scheme which will soon see its completion by December 2024.
During the meeting, the minister discussed water source sustainability and access to bulk water in the village habitations across the state.
Also touching on Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin) which also falls under the Ministry of Jal Shakti, they discussed sanitation parameters including segregation of solid and liquid waste management in rural and urban habitations.
Zhimomi appealed CR Paatil for support towards Nagaland, maintaining that the hilly terrain poses significant challenges. Acknowledging the concerns and appreciating the Minister and the Nagaland PHED for the commendable work, CR Paatil, assured support towards fulfilling PM Modi's vision of Har Ghar Jal and to do everything necessary to make JJM and SBM (G) successful in Nagaland.
The meeting was also attended by Union Minister of State for Jal Shakti Dr Raj Bhushan Choudhury, Vini Mahajan, Secretary, Department of Drinking Water & Sanitation, GoI and Debashree Mukherjee, Secretary, Department of Water Resources, Government of India.
