
Dimapur, March 1 (MExN): On Tuesday, Nagaland reported three new cases from Dimapur, Kohima and Mokokchung districts, all of which were detected during self tests and random testing.
The state also reported 17 single-day recoveries from Dimapur (11), Tuensang (3), Kohima (1), Mokokchung (1), and Phek (1), taking the number of recoveries to 33,082. Since February 2, recoveries have been outnumbering fresh cases in the State.
The COVID death toll also rose to 752 as one fatality was reported from Dimapur district on Tuesday. As per the daily health bulletin issued by the state Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP), over the course of the pandemic, four more patients with COVID-19 positivity also died, but they were designated as “Non Covid Deaths.”
With this, the number of active cases of COVID-19 across Nagaland has dropped to fewer than 100 after a gap of almost two months. With 93 active infections across the state as of Tuesday evening, Nagaland’s case load is at the lowest since January 10– a time when the third wave of the pandemic was just beginning. Since the pandemic broke in May 2020, the state has reported a total of 35,410 COVID-19 cases.
As per the IDSP bulletin, out of 93 active cases, three patients were in the intensive care unit on ventilator; one patient with moderate symptoms was on oxygen support; 11 had mild symptoms; and 79 were asymptomatic.
As on Tuesday, Kiphire, Phek and Zunheboto districts had zero active cases.
It must be noted here that data reporting for the new districts are covered under former districts as there are no separate surveillance units yet for the new districts.
