Nagaland agriculture dept advocates  ‘smart solutions for healthy diets’

Kohima, October 16 (MExN): The Department of Agriculture, Government of Nagaland observed World Food Day under the theme, ‘smart solutions for healthy diets’ at the Directorate Conference Hall on October 16. 

Addressing on the event, Dr I Amenla, Joint Director said that countries across the world commemorate the day to create awareness on importance issues behind poverty and hunger. She encouraged the stakeholders to grow variety of food to nourish the growing population and sustain the planet together, choosing healthy and nutritious food.

She said it is important to recognise, respect and support ‘our food heroes- the farmers’ who make every effort to ensure food security. She highlighted the need to reach to the farmers to build the chain link to promote healthy and nourished livelihood. Dr Amenla also challenged the staffs to uplift the small and marginal farmers. 

The chairperson M Ben Yanthan, Director of Agriculture highlighted on World Food Day. Hewoto Sumi, Joint Director presented the power point on ‘Hunger.’

The Department also visited Good Samaritan Senior Citizen's Home at Merima, Kohima.
