Nagaland: ANPSTA demands exam date announcement for D.El.Ed

DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 12 (MExN): The All Nagaland Pre-Service Teachers’ Association (ANPSTA) has appealed to the State Board of Teachers Education (SBTE) to notify the examination dates for the Diploma course in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed).

A press release from Botika A Kiho, President of the ANPSTA informed that while exams for degrees like B.A, M.A and B.Ed have been conducted through online mode, there was no notification issued for D.El.Ed final year exams which was supposed to be completed in the month of May.

The association said that when the exam notifications for other educational institutes for final year was issued, a letter was submitted to the SBTE on September 7 and October 8 for early notifications of exam and seeking online mode of examination.

“However the SCERT failed to respond nor did they issue any notification regarding the exam,” it added. The ANPSTA informed that the association met with the SCERT Director on October 21, but a reasonable solution could not be worked out and direction was issued to go ahead with offline exam. This, it noted would have “put the life of students and lecturers at risk.”

The department on October 22 issued exam notifications which scheduled the examination from November 12 to 20. “So the trainees were left with no option but to go ahead with it, but again on November 9, the department issued another notification stating that the exam was rescheduled without giving any reason and date as when to conduct the exam,” the association said.

It appealed to the SBTE to notify the dates for the exams within 7 days. “Some students who were planning to go for further studies were unable to do so, due to the delay,” it pointed out.

It meanwhile asked the department to arrange accommodation and transportation for the trainees so that the government’s COVID-19 SOP is maintained.

The ANPSTA stated that the concerned department would be held responsible if any trainee gets affected by COVID-19 during the course of exam “as they have failed to hear the plea of the trainees from all 10 institutions.”
