Kohima, July 17 (MExN): The Nagaland Junior Athletics Championships 2024 will be held from 2-3 August at the Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima.
Any indigenous inhabitant of Nagaland can participate in the competition, to be held under the Under-12, 14, and 16 categories, informed a press release from the organiser, Nagaland Athletics Association.
An athlete can participate in two individual events, and the last date for registration is 27 July, it added. Registration can be done online via Google Forms, and fees will be Rs 100 per event.
As per the list of events provided by the association, the championship will feature competition in various disciplines of athletics such as 60-800 metre races, long and high jump, shot put, javelin throw, and discus (see table).
Meanwhile, the association said that only Aadhaar will be accepted as a valid document for verification of the athletes’ ages.
The age brackets for various categories are as follows: U-12 Boys & Girls born between 11/11/2012 & 10/11/2014; U-14 Boys & Girls born between 11/11/2010 & 10/11/2012; and U-16 Boys & Girls born between 11/11/2008 & 10/11/2010.
It further said that participants have to make their own arrangements for accommodation and food. Athletes with promising performances during the meet will be selected for a state-level intensive coaching camp, it added.
