Athletes lined up at the starting mark as officials prepare to flag off a track event during the 3rd Nagaland Junior Athletics Championships 2026, held at the Government Higher Secondary School Ground in Dimapur.
Dimapur, September 10 (MExN): The Nagaland Athletics Association conducted the 3rd Nagaland Junior Athletics Championships 2026 at the Government Higher Secondary School Ground, Dimapur, with 209 young athletes competing across the Under-14, Under-16 and Under-18 categories.
In the Under-14 boys’ category, Mughakupu Yesca won Triathlon B with 1,831 points, followed by Abishek Kuwar with 1,739 and Imli Tangit with 1,601. Boilim Hansing topped Triathlon C with 1,218 points, ahead of Pikashe K. Aomi (785) and Rongkhum S. Yimchunger (685).
In the Under-14 girls’ Triathlon B, Lihike Yepthomi finished first with 1,605 points, followed by Bemang W (1,444) and A. Ake (1,315). Kairuangwi Nring won Triathlon C with 1,320 points, while Lovi H. Aye (1,180) and Retsula (1,113) finished second and third respectively.
In the Under-16 girls’ events, Achano Liegise won the 60m dash in 8.91 seconds, with Anon M. Konyak (9.12) and Temjensangla Jamir (9.35) taking second and third. Supei S. won the 600m in 2:02, ahead of Bemang H. (2:11) and Temjensangla Longkumer (2:35).
Liegise also won the long jump with 3.29m, followed by Dzevinuo Chase (3.07m) and Konchum L. Phom (3.02m). In shot put, Anon M. Konyak took first place with 7.22m, followed by Visino Shaya (6.55m) and Seyiesinuo Theunuo (5.50m).
The Under-16 boys’ 60m dash was won by Akash Gowalla in 7.51 seconds. Temjenyanger Imchen (7.78) and Satyam Kumar Jha (8.15) finished second and third. Thejahloulie Suohu won the 600m in 1:44, ahead of Gowalla (1:47) and Chuimithan Zimik (1:48).
John Thapa won the boys’ long jump with 3.88m, followed by Ilopu Khujumi (3.85m) and Keduolhouvi Pienyii (3.84m). Viboto Wotsa topped the shot put with 10.23m, with Ito Rochill (9.61m) and Zasivikho Rhutsu (8.87m) in second and third.
In the Under-18 girls’ category, Neshe Maonyu Konyak won the 100m in 14.03 seconds, while Veingaihsangi (16.72) and Chemrila T. Sangtam (18.31) placed second and third. Kevisinuo Dzuvi won the 200m in 32.16 seconds, ahead of Ruchiraa Mech (45.22) and Atsu Yiuliu (48.15).
Apoang N. Apoang won the girls’ long jump with 4.48m and shot put with 7.40m. Kevisinuo Dzuvi (3.93m) and Chemrila T. Sangtam (3.76m) finished second and third in the long jump, while Veingaihsangi (6.94m) and Linovi Zhimomi (6.15m) took second and third in shot put.
In the Under-18 boys’ events, Moalong Jamir won the 100m in 12.16 seconds, followed by Diezevi Meru (12.35) and Vika Aye (12.36). Tementong Longchar topped the 200m in 25.79 seconds, with Meru (26.55) and Yimsenwapang Kichu (26.80) in second and third.
Kakivi J. Wotsa won the 400m in 1:03.06, followed by Talimeim Jamir (1:03.88) and Neilaphrezo Usou (1:06.91). Talimeim Jamir also won the 1000m in 2:57.49, ahead of Lanurenba Longkumer (3:03.47) and Temsumoa Jamir (3:14.36).
Temsumoa Jamir won the boys’ long jump with 5.76m, followed by Mengukhriezo (5.68m) and Alemwati Longchar (5.66m). Kekhrieselhou Kerhu topped the shot put with 10.08m, while Vivotuo Chupuo (9.79m) and Ayepu Ayemi (9.70m) finished second and third.
The association congratulated the winners and participants and acknowledged the contribution of officials, coaches, schools, volunteers and supporters towards the conduct of the championship.
