KOHIMA, FEBRUARY 2 (MExN): NEXUSCIPHERGUARD India, a cybersecurity startup founded in Nagaland, has acquired Bengaluru-based AI security firm AegisMind Technologies, bringing the latter under its corporate umbrella while allowing it to continue operating independently.
According to a press release, AegisMind Technologies will function as NEXUSCIPHERGUARD India’s dedicated research and development hub following the acquisition. The Bengaluru-based firm will retain its independent operational structure, with a focus on long-term security research rather than immediate scale or integration into core operations.
AegisMind Technologies, headquartered in Bengaluru, has been working on AI-led threat detection models and security automation tools, much of which has been research-focused and internal in nature.
Commenting on the acquisition, Pangerkumzuk Longkumer, Director of NEXUSCIPHERGUARD India, said, “We were not looking to scale quickly or absorb another company into our operations. The intent was to strengthen our research capacity. AegisMind has been doing serious work, and we felt it was important to let them continue without disruption.”
He added that allowing AegisMind to operate independently was a deliberate decision. “Research suffers when timelines are forced. This structure gives them room to work, while allowing us to learn from that process,” he said.
An Executive Assistant to the Director, who was involved in discussions between the two teams, said the acquisition followed several months of internal deliberations. “There were multiple conversations around expectations and working styles. It wasn’t a quick decision. Both sides wanted clarity on autonomy before moving forward,” the Executive Assistant said.
NEXUSCIPHERGUARD India, founded in Nagaland, has primarily been engaged in cybersecurity consulting, vulnerability assessments, and security audits. The company said the acquisition reflects a gradual shift toward building internal research capability alongside its existing services.
