Kohima, February 6 (DIPR): The launching programme of College of Teacher Education (CTE) of which Nagaland became the 22nd number of CTE was held at Nagaland College of Teacher Education Kohima conference hall on February 6.
Addressing the gathering at the launching programme on the Mission & Vision of CTE International Secretary General CTE, Prof. N. Bhagabati said that recognising both the need and opportunity to professionalise teacher education in the country, a group of committed educators headed by Dr. Gulab Chaurasia launched a National Professional Body - Council for Teacher Education (CTE) in 1985. She said that the council has been serving the cause of Education in general and that of teacher education in particular with full devotion and determination and added that the growth of the organisation during all these years has been remarkable and encouraging.
She said the seed sown by Dr. Chaurasia in Bhopal 26 years ago has now grown throughout the length and breadth of the country and presently this organisation has more than 5000 individual life members. She also pointed out that many institutions have joined the CTE family as Institutional life members comprising of 20 States including a few Union Territories (UT's) have a CTE Chapter of their own which is basically a body of teacher educators and teachers under training. The scope of membership has recently been widened to include teachers from all learning institutions-School, College, Universities etc.
She said that CTE is a voluntary organisation, which plays a significantly constructive role in supplementing the efforts of State agencies and also providing useful inputs in the development of policies and their effective implementation and more importantly contributes in creating a healthy professional culture.
National President CTE, Dr. D.R. Vij speaking on the occasion said that an aimless life is always a miserable life, so everyone should have an aim but, one should not forget on the quality of one's aim which will depend on the quality of one's life. He added that the aim should be high and wide, generous and disinterested which will make one's life precious to onerself and to others. "But whatever you're ideal is it cannot be perfectly realized unless you have realized perfection in yourself" he added.
The programme was chaired by Lecturer Bendangla NCTE Kohima and welcome address was delivered by Sandip NCTE Kohima. A brief speech was given by Director SCERT, Joint Director Higher Education, followed by introduction of members and handing over of Nagaland Chapter CTE Flag. The office bearer of CTE Nagaland includes Bendangla Changkir as Chairman, Sandip Ratna-Secretary, Elizabeth-Joint Secretary, Alemla Longkumer-Publicity Secretary and Asale Vitso-Treasurer.
