Nagaland Chief Minister Dr Neiphiu Rio announced the sector wise allocations in Nagaland budget 2026-27.
In Budget presentation at the 8th session of 14th Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) in Kohima on March 27, Dr Rio said that the Agri and Allied sector have been provided with a total allocation of Rs 21.09 crore.
The Agriculture Department has been provided Rs 10.95 crore for Agri infrastructure and Agri Park at Kisama Heritage village. The Horticulture Department is provided Rs 6.55 crore for post-harvest management and value addition of strawberry, development of flower cluster model village at Tourist villages, construction of Horti infrastructure including Office Building in Shamator district.
The Soil and Water Conservation Department will undertake a Comprehensive Sustainable Land Development project and other infrastructure development projects with an allocation of Rs 3.59 crore.
Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services Department is provided Rs 6.20 crore. Rs 4.20 crore has been provided to Fisheries and Aquatic Resources department.
The Environment, Forest and Climate Change Department is provided Rs 5.50 crore for establishment of High-Tech Nursery, Plantation of Agarwood and other activities.
The Cooperation Department has been provided Rs 6.17 Crore for construction of ARCS Offices in Niuland, Peren, Mokokchung, Wokha and Zunheboto districts.
The Land Resources Department is provided Rs 6.25 crore for promotion of sustainable livelihood through coffee plantation, Coffee Café, Coffee adaptation station and development of Coffee nursery.
The Sericulture Department is provided Rs 5.30 crore.
Nagaland Bamboo Development Agency, Bio-resources and Aromatic Plant, Bee and Honey Mission; Nagaland Empowerment of People through Economic Development (NEPED) and Hygroger (NEPeD) are allocated Rs 1 crore each.
The Rural Development Department is provided Rs 5 crore for construction of BDO offices at Ongpangkong South in Mokokchung and Sanis in Wokha district, improvement of rural roads and amenities at the Directorate complex.
The State Institute of Rural Development is provided Rs 4 crore for construction of Administrative-cum-Academic Block at SIRD Office complex, Kohima and for various Training programmes.
The Land Revenue Department is provided Rs 4.85 crore to undertake procurement of Differential Global Positioning System and construction of DLRSO office building at Longleng and Tseminyu districts.
Rs 200 crore has been allocated for Land Bank under the Department.
Construction of DUDA staff Quarter at Kohima and Iconic Projects under UDAP will also be undertaken for which the Department is provided Rs 20.19 crore.
In the Power sector, Distribution and Revenue is provided Rs 9.29 crore for construction of three 33 KVA sub-station in Wokha, Phek and Peren districts, purchase of transformers, and re-alignment and construction of 11 KV Line of Jangpetkong Feeder and upgradation of existing 33 KVA substations.
The Transmission and Generation section has been provided Rs 11.42 crore for construction of Departmental infrastructure.
In addition, Rs 3.00 crore is provided to the New and Renewable Energy Department for construction of 150 kW Thiza Ru Hydel project, implementation of solar water heater system and solar home lighting system.
The Electrical Inspectorate has been provided Rs 1.00 crore for Green Village initiatives.
The Industries and Commerce Department has been provided Rs 9.75 crore for 'Ease of Doing Business', Startup Nagaland Programme, training and awareness programme in Textiles, MSMEs, Commerce, Food processing and implementation of India Industrial Land Bank (ILB).
The Department will also undertake export promotion activities, packaging and branding of MSME products and construction of Meeting Hall and Storm water drainage at Avangkhu ITC. This includes Rs1 crore each for NHHDC, NKVIB and NHTDC Ltd. and Rs 50 lakh for NTTC.
The Geology and Mining Department has been allocated Rs 7.50 crore for key initiatives including mineral connectivity infrastructure to Dikhu bridge at Tengtak Saho River in Mon district; groundwater development in water stressed areas through deep tube wells, rainwater harvesting and artificial recharge structures, and exploration of strategic minerals.
The Nagaland State Mineral Development Corporation Limited has been provided Rs 2.39 crore.
The Roads and Bridges Department has been provided Rs 30.00 crore for improvement of roads and rehabilitation of bridges.
The Mechanical Department has been provided Rs 3.00 crore for procurement of heavy machineries.
The Road Transport Department has been provided Rs 9.41 crore for construction of sub-station and garages at various districts, upgradation of NST Divisional workshop at Lerie, booking office and bus shed at Tening and Longjang and maintenance of helipads at various locations.
The Motor Vehicles Department has been provided Rs 4 crore for construction of Office building and staff quarters.
The Science and Technology Department has been provided Rs2.82 crore for departmental infrastructure and for Nagaland Science Mission.
The Information Technology and Communication Department has been provided Rs 5.35 crore for departmental infrastructure, software development, enhancement of State Data Centre operations and Governance digital platforms using Multimodal Al agents and advanced analytics for online services.
Nagaland Innovation Hub will also be constructed by the Department in Chümoukedima district.
The Planning Machinery has been provided Rs7.38 crore for construction of SDPDB conference hall at Bhandari and Tobu and other infrastructure.
Rs 250 crore is earmarked for State Matching Share to CSS. Other allocations include Rs12 crore for Special Development Programme; Rs 2.5 crore for SDG initiatives; Rs1 crore for Nagaland Institute of Transformation (NIoT), Rs 1.5 crore for aspirational districts & blocks.
Rs 132 crore is allocated for LADP, an increase of Rs 20 lakh per constituency specially earmarked for skill development and promotion of micro enterprises.
An additional Rs 50 lakh each is allocated for the 29 areas covered in the Under Developed Area Programme (UDAP).
The Art and Culture Department has been provided Rs 7.45 crore for construction of cultural hall at Tammong in Mon district, District Cultural Office at Longleng, Exhibition Hall at Kisama Heritage village, Traditional Gate and Morung at Benreu in Peren district, Konyak Community Hall at Dimapur and Departmental core activities including Hornbill Festival.
The Tourism Department has been provided Rs 7.20 crore for the Hornbill Festival, Mini Hornbill Tribal Festivals and construction of office buildings, eco-tourism and tourism enhancement infrastructure in various districts.
The Economics & Statistics Department has been provided Rs 4.71 crore for construction of District Offices in Wokha, Kiphire and Tseminyu, staff quarters at Tuensang, Peren and various repairs and renovation of Departmental infrastructure.
The Food and Civil Supplies Department has been provided Rs 4.74 crore for construction of office buildings in Tuensang, Peren, Zunheboto, Tseminyu and Godowns at various locations.
The Legal Metrology and Consumer Protection Department has been provided Rs2.62 crore for construction and upgradation of various departmental building, trainings and for consumer awareness.
The Evaluation Department has been provided Rs2.87 crore for various construction works and evaluation studies.
The School Education Department has been provided Rs 12.89 crore for construction of DEO and SDEO Offices in Meluri, Niuland, Chümoukedima, Noklak, Shamator, Mangkolemba in Mokokchung and Tening in Peren district and construction of school infrastructure in various locations.
The Higher Education Department has been provided Rs 11.05 crore for construction of Classrooms and Academic Buildings at various Government colleges, Girls Hostel at New Model College, Mangkolemba and Peren Government College, Peren; separate Boys and Girls Toilets at various Government colleges and infrastructure upgradation at Multipurpose Hall at Yingli College in Longleng.
SCERT has been allocated Rs 3.24 crore for development of New Textbooks from KG2 till class 8 and construction of various departmental infrastructure.
The Technical Education Department has been provided Rs 3.20 crore for setting up Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning Laboratory at Government Polytechnic at Seithekema-C, construction of Girls Hostel at Government Polytechnic Doyang, Wokha, power line connections for Government Polytechnic Aboi, Mon and Doyang, Wokha.
The Youth Resources and Sports Department has been provided Rs 10.43 crore for construction of departmental buildings, capacity building for youth empowerment and sports personnel, tournament related activities and TaFMA core activities.
The Health and Family Welfare Department has been provided Rs10.10 crore for construction of CHC, PHCs, offices, staff quarters, health Sub-centres, and infrastructural improvement across the State.
The Public Health Engineering Department has been provided Rs 6.22 crore for improvement of water supply to Kohima, Mokokchung and Wokha; construction of departmental infrastructure in Peren, Noklak, Niuland, Zunheboto and Wokha.
The Housing Department has been provided Rs31.15 crore for construction of rental housings, staff quarters, rest houses and office buildings in various districts and sub-divisions.
CAWD has been provided Rs 26.00 crore for office buildings, residential quarters, flat type staff quarters, rest houses and circuit house for District Administration in various parts of the State.
The Police Housing has been provided Rs13.57 crore for construction of office buildings, construction and upgradation of police stations, staff quarters, barracks and upgradation of buildings.
The Law and Justice Department has been provided Rs 2.63 crore for various construction activities.
The Home Guards has been provided with Rs3.29 crore for construction of Departmental infrastructure. The Jails (Prison) Housing Department has been provided Rs 5.61 crore for construction of various departmental infrastructure. The Excise Department has been provided with Rs 3.20 crore for construction of buildings in Phek, Peren and Dimapur.
Dr Rio announced that Nagaland has been awarded Rs100 crore for Nagaki City by the Central Government under the Theme-based Green Field Cities Competition during 2025-26.
The Urban Development Department has been provided Rs 17.49 crore for Urban Roads in all district headquarters, Urban Infrastructure Development Schemes and urban drainages and footpath.
The Municipal Affairs Department has been provided Rs4.40 crore for Urban Sanitation and Sewerage Scheme, infrastructure for ULBs, Capacity building for ULBs and Municipal Solid Waste Management.
Under State Finance Commission, Rs 15.83 crore is allocated to Municipal Department as Share-in-taxes and Rs9.16 crore as Grant-in-Aid for urban local bodies.
The Information and Public Relations Department is provided with Rs 4.39 crore for advanced capacity building programme for films and AVGC-XR and sectoral integration of Nagaland in Screen Media & Creative Technology sector.
The Labour Department has been provided with Rs 2.97 crore for construction of office buildings, unorganised social security and labour welfare centre.
The Employment, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Department has been provided with Rs 4.70 crore for providing access to core employability skills for 1200 rural youth and women, construction of office infrastructure, skilling in media and entertainment sector, health and hospitality sector with language for international placements.
The Social Welfare Department has been provided Rs 5.29 crore for construction and upgradation of Departmental infrastructures.
The Women Resources Department has been provided Rs 4.30 crore for Transformative Livelihood Intervention project and Myki
The General Services sector has been provided Rs 22.10 crore. This includes Rs 2.80 crore to the Printing and Stationery Department, Rs1.80 crore to the Administrative Training Institute, Rs 7 crore to the Nagaland Legislative Assembly and Rs 10.50 crore to the Fire & Emergency Services for development of fire stations in the newly created districts and divisions, development of infrastructure and upgradation of Training Centre for Fire & emergency services, improvement of existing and upcoming Fire station and purchase of equipment and appliances.
The Treasuries and Accounts Department has been provided Rs 4 crore for construction of office-cum-staff quarters at various locations.
The Parliamentary Affairs Department has been provided Rs2.20 crore.
The Taxes Department has been provided Rs4.30 crore for construction of various Departmental building.
The Village Guards has been provided Rs5.56 crore for construction of 18 VG barracks and other infrastructure.
The Border Affairs Department has been provided Rs 2.00 crore for construction of Border Rest Houses and Departmental infrastructure.
The Election Department has been provided Rs4.01 crore for various infrastructure development.
The Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority under Home Department has been provided Rs3.50 crore for strengthening real-time and field-based emergency disaster response with emerging technology; strengthening Eliona, a super computer of NSDMA and establishment of 16 HAM Radio Stations, a standalone Emergency Communication Network.
Rs 1.20 crore has been provided for upgradation of Nagaland Guest Houses in RK Puram and Salt Lake.
The Tribal Affairs Department has been provided Rs 5.60 crore for construction of directorate building, staff quarters and Tribal Arena at Kisama Heritage Village.
The Minority Affairs Department has been allocated Rs 4.50 crore for construction of new directorate building, minority women marketing outlets in various districts and for Holy Land Tour.
The State Lotteries has been provided Rs1 crore for construction of a new directorate building at new Capital Complex, Thizama.
Dr Rio said that Rs 100.57 crore will be the grants to Frontier Nagaland Territorial Authority (FNTA), which is the proportional allocation of the total divisible pool of the State development fund after netting out the Statewide obligations including the non-transferred Departments.
