 After trailing during the first half of the day, the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) nominee Medo Yhokha was leading with a narrow margin of 641 after round 4 of vote counting for the bye-election to 14 Southern Angami–I on November 10. 

According to trends and results update by the Election Commission of India, at 2:33 PM, Medo, who is the ruling People’s Democratic Alliance consensus candidate had garnered 4699 while the Independent candidate Seyievilie Peter Zashumo was trailing behind with 4058 votes. 

Kikovi Kirha of the opposition Naga People’s Front was at distant third with 2061 votes. 

Counting began amid tight security from 8 AM in one room for the 22 polling stations of 14 Southern Angami-I seat and two halls for the 77 polling booths of Pungro-Kiphire assembly segment.

Counting of votes is being undertaken under SDO (C) Jakhama & Returning Officer in Kohima for 14 Southern Angami-I while it is under  ADC Kiphire & Returning Officer for 60-Pungro-Kiphire A/C in Kiphire.

Meanwhile, Independent candidate T Yangseo Sangtam is set to be the represent 60-Pungro-Kiphire Assembly Constituency in Nagaland Legislative after winning the bye-election on November 10. 

According to update on Election Commission of India website, after 7 and final round of counting, Yangseo garnered 8572 votes and defeated the nearest contender and Independent S Kiusumew Yimchunger by a margin of 1416. 

Kiusumew got 7156 votes, while the ruling People’s Democratic Alliance consensus candidate, Lirimong Sangtam of Bhartiya Janata Party got 5506 votes.        

Another Independent candidate K Shellumthong Yimchunger got 5344 while 343 electorate voted for Indian National Congress’ Khaseo Anar.
