Nagaland CM lauds all stakeholders for successful 3rd North East Games

Kohima, March 24 (MExN): Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, on behalf of the State Government, today congratulated the organising committee and others for the successful conduct of the 3rd North East Games (NEG) 2024, hosted by Nagaland from March 18-23.

In a letter to Abu Metha, Organising Secretary & Working President, North East Sports Association (NESA), the CM highlighted participants from all the 8 North-East States competed in 15 sports disciplines. 

More than 3000 athletes, officials, technical delegates, and participants from all over the region and different parts of the country, and even abroad, made the third edition a grand success, he noted.

The positive feedback on the overall organisation of the games clearly indicated that the games have been a huge success from all angles, he maintained.

He also conveyed appreciation to every organization and individual for contributing towards the success of the games including state sports associations, national federations, technical officials, volunteers, and the Department of Youth Resources & Sports (DYRS). 

Partners and vendors; institution partners and the sponsors were also acknowledged. 

The State Government also extended appreciation to the State Olympic Associations of the participating states and the NESA for extending positive support and solidarity to Nagaland.

Rio also appreciated the President of India, Prime Minister, the Union Minister for Youth Affairs & Sports, the President of the Indian Olympic Association, and Chief Ministers of NE States and others dignitaries for  their messages of solidarity.

The State Government also expressed gratitude  to the citizens of the State, the local communities and their leaders as well as churches, civil societies, and NGOs for support in various ways and especially in prayers. 

The efficient and professional team of the Nagaland Olympic Association (NOA), under Metha’s leadership was also commended for working tirelessly for months for the success of the game.

“The biggest congratulations go to all the athletes who made the event a remarkable success,” Rio added, highlighting the 1st Runner Up position of the Nagaland contingent, the best-ever performance and highest medal haul so far.

NDPP: Meanwhile, the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) also congratulated the Government of Nagaland and NOA led by the Chief Minister and President NOA, Rio for successful NEG 2024.

Despite challenges, the successful completion of the games  goes to show the relentless efforts put in by the NOA and the DYRS in ensuring that all the venues including the Games Village were ready, it added. 

NOA President along with the Secretary General need to be specially commended for their dexterity in ensuring not just the games being held successfully but hosting the all athletes  in the true Naga way of warmth and care throughout the period of the Games, it added. 

The NDPP also lauded all the athletes and players from Nagaland the Ist runners-up position in the medals tally.

It shows that the sportsmen and women from the State are at par with the top athletes of the country, the NDPP maintained, while wishing them success in their future endeavors. 

With the successful culmination of the 3rd NEG, the NDPP looks forward to Nagaland moving ahead and hosting the National Games in the future, it added. The NDPP conveyed appreciation to the people of Dimapur, Chümoukedima, and Kohima districts for having been the perfect hosts of the games.

The NDPP Central Youth Organisation also congratulated the NOA and commended the proficiency and excellent management of the mega sports event. 

The PDA Government led by CM Rio has taken a giant stride in fulfilling its commitment to promote Games & Sports in the State, it added.
