DIMAPUR, MAY 21 (MExN): Dimapur Police today brought two brothers to West Police Station after arresting them from Jaipur, Rajasthan. A woman named Babita Sharma had earlier filed an FIR complaining of ill treatment by her in-laws in a case relating to dowry. Babita’s husband Govind Sharma and her brother in law Dwarika Sharma are accused of inflicting physical and mental torture. Babita had entered an arrange marriage after Govind had lied that he was a doctor, Police said. Dwarika claims to be a Secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha in Rajasthan. A Hindi newspaper had earlier carried a story of the brothers.
Babita, who was raised in Dimapur, said in her FIR, “I was treated like a street animal.” She had run back home unable to bear the torture.
