Nagaland: COVID-19 case count crosses 30k

Dimapur, August 30 (MExN): Nagaland’s tally of COVID-19 cases crossed the 30,000 threshold on Monday with the confirmation of 31 new cases.

The state Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP) in its daily bulletin, informed that the highest number of new cases were detected in Mokokchung (27), followed by Kohima with 16, 10 each in Dimapur and Wokha, 3 in Kiphire and 2 each in Peren and Mon district.  On the other hand, 70 patients who previously tested positive for the virus, recovered on Monday. The state did not report any fatalities in the last 24 hours and the COVID death toll remained at 603. This is exclusive of 14 other deaths that were categorised as ‘Not COVID related (with COVID positivity)’ in the bulletin. 

With this, the cumulative tally of infections in the state reached 30,003 cases out of which 27,735 have recovered and 767 are active cases. 

The state officially reported its first case when 3 returnees from Chennai who arrived in the state via the Shramik Express special trains tested positive for COVID-19 on May 25, 2020.
