Nagaland COVID-19 cases breach 25000

Dimapur, June 28 (MExN): Nagaland reported 56 fresh COVID-19 cases from five districts on Monday taking the cumulative tally of cases past the 25,000-mark.

The health bulletin issued by the state Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP) stated that Kohima reported 25 cases, Dimapur-17, Mokokchung-7, Peren-6 and Kiphire-1 case.

The death toll in the state rose to 479 as 6 more COVID related deaths were reported in the last 24 hours, according to the bulletin. This is exclusive of the 14 other deaths categorised as ‘not COVID-19 related’ in the bulletin. The fatalities on June 28 were reported from Dimapur (2), Mokokchung (2), Kohima (1), and Peren (1).

On the other hand, 175 patients who previously tested positive for the virus have recovered on Monday. As of June 28, the cumulative tally of cases in Nagaland stood at 25,017 with 1,397 active cases and 22,426 recovered cases.

As per the bulletin, Monday’s fresh cases were detected from among 968 samples that were tested, returning a daily positivity rate of 5.78 percent. Among the new cases, 26 were from self tests and random tests, 16 from armed forces/security personnel, 12 from traced contacts and 1 each from returnees/travellers and front line workers.

The bulletin indicated that 1,186 active cases were asymptomatic, 158 mild symptomatic, 31 were moderate on oxygen, 9 were severe on oxygen, 7 were in ICU without oxygen and 6 were in ICU with oxygen.
