Nagaland COVID-19 Recoveries exceed new cases 

Dimapur, August 23 (MExN): COVID-19 cases continued to rise in Nagaland with 33 new cases of infection reported on Monday while 87 cases of recovery took the number of recovered cases to 27,238, as per data from the state Department of Health and Family Welfare. The new cases were reported from Dimapur (15), Mokokchung (8), Wokha (3), Kohima (2), Peren (1), Phek (1), and Tuensang (1), out of a total 2,118 tests in the last 24 hours.  

Of the new cases, 22 were detected during self tests and random tests, 4 from returnees/travellers, 4 from traced contacts and 3 were from frontline workers, the state Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme’s (IDSP) daily bulletin stated. Among the cases of recovery recorded on Monday, 25 were from Dimapur, Kohima (23), Zunheboto (23), Mokokchung (12), Peren (3), and Wokha (1).  With this, the cumulative tally of infections in the state now stands at 29,622 out of which 916 are active cases. The COVID death toll stands at 596 excluding 14 other deaths that are categorised as ‘non COVID deaths (with COVID positivity)’ and 858 patients have migrated to other states, the bulletin stated.
